There is no official university-wide Czech Technical University acceptance rate. CTU admits students faculty by faculty, and each faculty publishes its own admission reports. Based on those official reports, the Czech Technical University acceptance rate ranged from about 16% to 77% across programs in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 cycles.

The figure you see on most ranking sites (usually somewhere between 45% and 69%) is an estimate built from aggregate enrollment data. It blends Czech-taught and English-taught programs, bachelor’s and master’s levels, and every faculty into one number. For an Indian applicant, that single number is close to useless.

Here is why it matters. Almost every Indian student applies to an English-taught program, and those programs are far more selective than the Czech-taught ones that pull the average up. At the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT), the English-taught bachelor's program admitted 23.5% of applicants in 2025, and the English-taught master's admitted 15.8%.

So when someone asks about the Czech Technical University acceptance rate, the honest answer is, "It depends on your faculty, your program language, and your degree level." The sections below give you the official numbers for each.

Czech public universities must publish a yearly report on every admission round, listing applications received and students admitted. We calculated the Czech Technical University acceptance rate for each program below directly from these reports.

Faculties such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering have not published program-level data for their English-taught tracks in a form we could verify. We have excluded them instead of making an estimate.

Three reasons explain the gap. First, English-taught programs have small intakes: FIT's English master's admitted only 15 students in 2025. Second, a fully international applicant pool competes for those few seats. Third, Czech-taught programs are free for all nationalities and run much larger intakes: FIT's Czech-taught bachelor's admitted 726 students in the same year.

The practical takeaway: a 70% rate at FNSPE says nothing about your chances in an English-taught IT or engineering program. Always check the rate for your exact program and language.

The headline Czech Technical University acceptance rate hides something important. For FIT's English bachelor's program, 426 people applied, but only 171 actually sat the entrance exam. Of those 171, 100 were admitted.

That means 58.5% of applicants who showed up and took the test got in. For the English master's, 15 of the 60 candidates who sat the exam were admitted, or 25%. Many applicants file an application, pay the fee, and then never turn up. Preparing properly and actually taking the exam puts you in a much stronger position than the raw percentage suggests.

Counselor insight: Indian students often apply to CTU as a "safe backup" and skip preparation for the entrance test. The FIT data shows why that fails: of the 326 unsuccessful English bachelor's applicants in 2025, 255 never sat the exam at all. If CTU is on your list, treat the maths or informatics test like a board exam and work through every past paper the faculty publishes.

No faculty publishes a separate Czech Technical University in Prague acceptance rate for international students by nationality, so there is no official India-specific figure. What we do know is that English-taught programs, which are almost entirely made up of international students, run between 16% and 24% at FIT.

Your result depends on three things, not on your nationality:

1. The entrance assessment. FIT uses a written maths test for bachelor's applicants and an informatics test for master's applicants. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEL) uses online interviews with the admission committee.
2. Your English score. Falling below the faculty minimum is an automatic rejection, however good your marks are.
3. Complete, recognized documents. Your Indian certificates must be officially recognized in the Czech Republic before you can enroll. Missing this step can cancel an admission even after you pass the exam.

CTU is a large institution. According to QS TopUniversities, it has about 22,000 students, over 3,000 of them international, across eight faculties and 132 accredited programs. That international community is useful once you arrive, but it also means you compete with a global applicant pool for English-taught seats.

Czech Technical University admission requirements are set by each faculty, and they are what actually drive the Czech Technical University acceptance rate for each program. Always read the "Conditions for Admission" document of the program you choose. The table below summarizes the confirmed requirements for the two faculties most Indian students target.

For bachelor's applicants from India, you will typically need:

• Class 12 marksheet and certificate, with a certified English translation if issued in another language
• An English test score at or above the faculty minimum
• A passport scan (FIT required this by the application deadline in the 2026-27 cycle)
• Recognition of your Class 12 qualification before enrollment
• A pass in the faculty's entrance exam

FIT's bachelor's candidates in 2026 could take the maths test in person on 12 May 2026 or submit an SCIO online maths test taken on dates between January and April. If your Indian marks do not follow the Czech grading scale, some faculties ask you to enter "1" for every grade in the online form. Master's applicants need a completed bachelor's degree (or proof that you will finish before enrollment), transcripts, an English score, and recognition of the bachelor's degree. FIT also asks for a structured CV focused on IT skills and a signed study contract.

Recognition of a foreign bachelor's degree is handled by the CTU Rector's Office and can take up to 30 days, according to the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Start this step as soon as you have your final transcripts.

Counselor insight: Indian applicants lose more time on document recognition than on anything else. Get your degree certificate and transcripts attested and apostilled through the Ministry of External Affairs early, because CTU cannot enroll you until recognition is complete, and your visa timeline depends on the admission letter.

Czech Technical University in Prague tuition fees for international students apply only to programs that are taught in English. Fees do not change the Czech Technical University acceptance rate, but they do decide which programs are realistic for your budget. Programs taught in Czech are free for all nationalities at public universities, but you would need Czech at around B2 level to study in them.

Beyond tuition, your student visa needs proof of funds. Applicants must show 15 times the monthly subsistence minimum, plus twice that minimum for every additional month of stay, according to the Ministry of the Interior's foreigners portal. The portal lists the subsistence minimum as CZK 3,130 per month.

Deadlines vary by faculty, and some faculties have only one round. Missing the window takes you out of the process entirely, regardless of the Czech Technical University acceptance rate for that program. Do not assume 2027-28 will follow the same dates.

The visa step is the one Indian students most often leave too late. The legal processing time for a long-term visa for study is 60 days, and it can be extended to 120 days in cases needing more examination, according to the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You must also register with the Foreign Police within three business days of arriving.

Are Czech universities good enough to justify the move? For engineering and IT, the case for CTU is strong. CTU is ranked joint 432nd in the QS World University Rankings 2027, and in the previous edition it was the second-best university in the Czech Republic and the top Czech technical university, according to CTU's news service.

Counselor insight: CTU's workload is heavy. Indian students who do well here usually have strong maths from Class 11 and 12 and are comfortable with self-study. If you struggled with JEE-level maths, pick a program where the entrance assessment is an interview rather than a written test, and plan extra preparation for the first year.

Since the Czech Technical University acceptance rate for English programs is low, preparation makes the biggest difference. Focus on these steps:

5. Show up. Over half of FIT's English bachelor's applicants never sat the exam in 2025. Simply attending, well prepared, puts you ahead.
