About The Cyprus International University
Cyprus International University (CIU) is a private university in North Nicosia with 130+ mostly English-taught programs. It is on many Indian shortlists because of its automatic 50% scholarship and no application fee.
CIU has 14,000+ students from 110 nationalities (per the CIU website) and teaches most programs in English. Whether it is worth it depends on three factors: what you pay compared to other North Cyprus universities (see the comparison table below), whether your degree is recognised for your career (see the recognition section), and your total budget beyond tuition.

One thing to note early: CIU doesn't post its fees in a single table. You use their calculator at sis.ciu.edu.tr to get a figure for your program. Everything below is from official CIU sources for 2026-2027. Verify before any bank or visa document is prepared.

Cyprus International University Fees 2026-2027: Program-wise Tuition Breakdown
Every international undergraduate at CIU gets 50% off tuition automatically. The table below shows what you actually pay, not the full list price on your acceptance letter.
| Program | Duration | Fee (EUR) | Fee (INR) | Full-program tuition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard UG (Engineering, Business, Sciences, Architecture, Law, Arts) | 4 years | โฌ3,735 a year | Rs. 4,06,181 ($4,237) a year | โฌ14,940 / Rs. 16,24,725 ($16,947) |
| Pharmacy (BPharm) | 5 years | โฌ4,885 a year | Rs. 5,31,244 ($5,541) a year | โฌ24,425 / Rs. 26,56,219 ($27,706) |

Full-program tuition is the annual fee multiplied by the program length. CIU's Admissions Rules state that tuition and accommodation fees are fixed for the official duration of study. The number of master's courses varies by program, so check your program's curriculum on the CIU website.
My insight: Before any bank visit or financial document, get the fee calculator output for your specific program. The acceptance letter figure and what you actually owe are different numbers. A bank statement on the wrong one can delay your visa by weeks.
Cyprus International University Accommodation Fees and Total Annual Budget
Cyprus International University fees under the scholarship structure cover tuition only. Your room is a separate cost with no discount. CIU has 18 dormitory buildings with 2,790 beds.
1. On-Campus Accommodation Fees (Per Year)
Your dorm covers internet, periodic cleaning, security, and water. Electricity and heating are charged separately.
| Room Type | Annual Fee (EUR) | Annual Fee (INR) |
|---|---|---|
| Single room (3-bedroom apartment) | โฌ2,520 | Rs. 2,74,050 ($2,859) |
| Double room (3-bedroom apartment) | โฌ1,890 | Rs. 2,05,538 ($2,144) |
| Shared/triple-occupancy room | โฌ1,575 | Rs. 1,71,281 ($1,787) |
Source: CIU Accommodation Fees. Revised each academic year. Confirm before booking.
2. All-Inclusive Package: Tuition + Room + 21 Meals Per Week
The meal component implied by these prices differs by room (about โฌ1,077 for a single, โฌ867 for a double and โฌ709 for the shared room), so check the exact meal plan with CIU before you choose a package.
| Package | Annual Fee (EUR) | Annual Fee (INR) |
| Single room, all-inclusive | โฌ7,332 | Rs. 7,97,355 |
| Double room, all-inclusive | โฌ6,492 | Rs. 7,06,005 ($7,364) |
| Quadruple room, all-inclusive | โฌ6,019 | Rs. 6,54,566 ($6,828) |

3. Estimated Total Annual Cost: Standard UG (Not All-Inclusive)
| Component | EUR | INR |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition (after 50% scholarship) | โฌ3,735 | Rs. 4,06,181 ($4,237) |
| Single room on campus | โฌ2,520 | Rs. 2,74,050 ($2,859) |
| Monthly living (food, transport, personal) | โฌ200/month x 10 = โฌ2,000 | Rs. 2,17,500 ($2,269) |
| Health insurance (approximate) | โฌ200 | Rs. 21,750 ($227) |
| Estimated Annual Total | โฌ8,455 | Rs. 9,19,481 ($9,591) |
Note: Tuition and accommodation figures are from the official CIU sources. Living and insurance figures are estimates.
My insight: CIU's dorm fee does not include electricity or heating, so budget for these separately, especially air conditioning in summer. The all-inclusive package removes that guesswork by combining tuition, room and board into a single annual number.
CIU vs Other North Cyprus Universities
| University | Engineering / standard UG (per year) | Medicine (per year) | Scholarship basis |
| CIU | Rs. 4,06,181 ($4,237) | Rs. 8,51,730 ($8,884) | Automatic 50% for all international UG. Fixed for the degree. |
| Near East University (NEU) | Rs. 3,46,913 ($3,619) | Rs. 14,65,950 ($15,291) | 50% on most programs, none on medicine and dentistry. Includes VAT and admin fee. |
| Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) | Rs. 4,50,589-6,51,820 ($4,700-6,799) | Rs. 13,91,074-17,39,082 ($14,510-18,140) | Merit-based: 60-75% for most programs, 30-45% for medicine. 2026-27 table. |
| Final International University (FIU) | From Rs. 3,44,173 ($3,590) at 50%; lower at 60-100% scholarship | Not offered | 50-100% by merit. Includes registration and VAT. 2025-26 list. |

On these published figures, CIU is cheaper than every EMU scholarship tier for engineering and the cheapest of the three for medicine. NEU's and FIU's listed engineering fees are lower than CIU's. Each university's figures include different charges, so confirm what is included before you compare.
Cyprus International University Application Fees, Courses and Admission Deadline 2026-2027
You don't need an entrance test, and you won't pay to apply. CIU doesn't use the score-based cutoffs UK and Canadian universities rely on. For Indian applicants, the form isn't what takes time. Getting documents attested before the intake window closes is what takes time.

Cyprus International University Admission Deadline 2026-2027
CIU doesn't post a hard closing date. For Indian students, the real constraint isn't the university calendar. It's how long MEA attestation and visa processing take on your end.
| Intake | Semester Start | Safe Application Window for Indian Students |
|---|---|---|
| Spring 2027 | February 2027 | November 2026 |
| Fall 2027 | October 2027 | Start apostille in May-June; submit by end-June |
My insight: MEA apostille through the Ministry of External Affairs and Cyprus Consulate takes 3-4 weeks minimum, sometimes longer. Start the same week your results come out. Missing this window means missing your intake.
If you want a complete breakdown of visas and other costs, check our blog on Cyprus Study Visa for Indian Students.
Documents Required for CIU Admission: India-Specific Checklist
Most students spend more time researching Cyprus International University fees than on document preparation. Flip that priority. The MEA apostille process takes weeks, and starting late is the most common reason Indian students miss their intake. Here is what you need and what each India-specific detail means.
| Document | India-Specific Details |
|---|---|
| High school marksheet | CBSE or state board; minimum 65% for most programs; 80% for medicine and dentistry |
| School transcripts (last 3 years) | Certified copy; the MEA apostille is needed for the visa, not just for admission. |
| Valid passport | All pages included; must be valid for at least 6 months from application date |
| English proficiency certificate | IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 65; submit if you have it, but CIU can issue an offer without it. |
| NEET (UG) scorecard (medicine applicants) | NMC rules require a qualifying NEET (UG) score for Indian students taking a primary medical qualification abroad. Confirm the current rule with the NMC. |
| Recent passport-size photograph | White background |
| Bachelor's degree (PG applicants only) | Minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00; certified copy with MEA apostille |
Scholarships at Cyprus International University
The 50% international scholarship lands automatically with your acceptance. You don't apply for it separately. Every other scholarship on this list requires its application to CIU.
No scholarship reduces Cyprus International University fees for accommodation. Budget for room, electricity, food, and insurance as separate costs.
| Scholarship | Coverage | Eligibility |
|---|---|---|
| International Student Scholarship | Automatic 50% off tuition | All international UG applicants |
| Academic Scholarship | 50% to 100% off tuition | Strong academic records; applied separately |
| Sports Scholarship | Partial tuition | National-level athletes or active CIU team members |
| Graduate Scholarship | Partial tuition | Master's/PhD students with a CGPA of 3.50 or above |
Cyprus International University Acceptance Rate and Accreditation
CIU has never published an official acceptance rate, and no independent body has produced a verified figure. Admission is document-based: clear the grade threshold, get your paperwork in order, and an offer follows.
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Category | Details |
| Official Acceptance Rate | Not published by CIU |
| Admission Type | Document-based; no entrance examination |
| Minimum Grade (Standard UG) | 65% in secondary school |
| Minimum Grade (Medicine and Dentistry) | 80% in secondary school |
| English Requirement | IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 65, where available; not mandatory for offer |
| Accreditation | YODAK (North Cyprus), YOK (Turkey) |
| EU Accreditation | Not applicable |
| Medicine WDOMS Status | Listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools |
- Location and jurisdiction: CIU is in North Cyprus, not the Republic of Cyprus. Its degrees carry YODAK and YOK recognition within their jurisdiction. EU-level accreditation does not apply.
- For medicine students: The WDOMS listing is what allows Indian graduates to sit the FMGE. Verify the current recognition status with the National Medical Commission directly before applying, as policies can change.
- For all other programs: Contact the relevant Indian professional body and ask directly whether they recognise a YODAK-accredited degree. Do not assume.

Should You Apply to CIU? Three Real Indian Student Situations
Class 12 with 65-80%: Tuition is Rs. 4,06,181 ($4,237) a year, or Rs. 16,24,725 ($16,947) over four years. Compare the fee with each Indian college's website and check how the degree is recognised at home.
BTech or BSc graduate after a UK or Canada visa refusal: Master's tuition is roughly Rs. 4,18,688-5,98,125 ($4,367-6,239) for the full degree. No GRE is required, instruction is in English, and the program takes 1.5-2 years.
Parents comparing CIU medicine with MBBS in India: The MD costs Rs. 8,51,730 ($8,884) a year, or Rs. 51,10,380 ($53,305) over six years. Indian students need a qualifying NEET (UG) score to study medicine abroad. Verify the current NMC position before committing to six years of fees.
What To Do When Things Go Wrong?
- Missed the window: CIU's rolling admissions mean you move to the next intake, not start over.
- Visa refused: CIU's official Admissions Rules confirm refunds on genuine visa refusals where embassy documents were accurate. Not automatic: contact admissions with your refusal letter.
- Below 65% in 12th: Contact CIU admissions directly. Some programs review borderline cases individually.
- Board results delayed: Email CIU with your expected result date. Provisional admissions are standard practice.

Three Key Takeaways on Cyprus International University Fees
- Run the fee calculator first, before planning anything. Cyprus International University fees differ by program and scholarship type. The CIU Fee Calculator at sis.ciu.edu.tr is the only source that gives you your actual number. No aggregator website or agent quote replaces it.
- Confirm degree recognition before you pay anything. CIU holds YODAK and YOK accreditation. For medicine, verify current WDOMS status and FMGE eligibility with the NMC. For every other field, check with the relevant Indian employer or professional body.
- Start the MEA apostille process the week your results arrive. It will take at least 3-4 weeks. A July start for an October intake is very tight. Build the attestation timeline into your plan from day one.

CIU doesn't post a firm deadline. For Spring 2027, Indian students should submit by November 2026. For Fall 2027, start the apostille in May-June and submit by end-June, allowing for MEA attestation and visa processing.

Deposits and advance tuition payments are refunded on genuine visa refusals, provided embassy documents were accurate. The refund is not automatic. Send your refusal letter to CIU admissions and request it formally.
-
Do scholarships cover accommodation at CIU?
No. Every scholarship, including the automatic 50%, covers tuition only. Room, electricity, food outside the all-inclusive package, and health insurance need separate budget lines.
-
Is CIU recognised in India?
CIU is accredited by YODAK (North Cyprus) and YOK (Turkey); it has no EU accreditation. Whether India recognises a degree depends on the body: the NMC for medicine, AIU equivalence for most other degrees, and the relevant professional body or employer for regulated fields. Get confirmation in writing before paying.
