I think one of the school activities that I remember doing in crafts was making these various vision boards during our annual crafts boards competition. So there what we had was that we were given soft pads to stick craft paper on and then draw upon it regarding a specific topic. That topic could be geopolitical, it could be related to the school, it could be related to history, science, geography, anything. So these boards were put up by us. So we decided the type of information that would go into them. Along with that we also decided the type of clippings that would be indicated. Moreover we used to make all the drawings, art and craft for it. And it also used to have these interactive elements such as the element of an opening door or maybe making blinds out of paper and sticking that up. So the entire board was a playground to just, you know, paste our creativity on and there was no limit to the amount of imagination that we could really portray out there on the board. However the feeling that I always got from it was a sense of pride but also a sense of vicious competition because we used to compete with other teammates on similar boards and then by the end of it we used to get a prize. So that was one sort of competitive but simultaneously a quite imaginative playground for me where I could really showcase my passion.

Follow up questions

What skills did you develop from making vision boards?
I developed several skills, including creativity, teamwork, and planning. Working with my classmates taught me how to collaborate effectively, while the process of designing the boards helped enhance my artistic abilities and critical thinking.

How did you feel about the competition aspect of the activity?
The competition added an exciting element to the activity. While it created some pressure, it also motivated me to put in my best effort. I enjoyed the thrill of competing and the recognition that came with winning, which made the experience even more rewarding.

Do you think art and craft activities are important in education?
Absolutely! Art and craft activities foster creativity and self-expression, which are essential for personal development. They also encourage problem-solving skills and can enhance students' engagement in learning, making education more enjoyable and effective.

In the school, in the art and craft lecture, we have made butterflies using stockings and the wires. So we have taken the wires and made it in the form of a butterfly and then cover it with the stockings. We have used different colors of stockings like pink, blue and then later on we used these wires to make some birds of them. Later decorated it with some stones etc. Then collected all these butterflies that we have made and pasted it on a round shaped mirror and it looks very nice. Although I find it very much difficult because I am not much into art and craft but after making it, I feel that it is the best thing I have done in my life. Other art and craft activity that I have done is like a thumb painting that we have drawn a little tree and everyone in our class made a thumb on it, thumb impression on it so that we can keep it for our lifetime. Our teacher saved it in our gallery also. So after 3 or 4 years when we visited, when we have graduated from the school and see that painting, it reminds us of the day that we have been through while doing this. Everyone has a different thumb print and it keeps as a memory in the list.

Follow up questions

What other art activities did you enjoy in school?
In addition to making butterflies and thumb paintings, I enjoyed activities like clay modeling and watercolor painting. Each project allowed us to express our creativity in different ways, and I found it exciting to experiment with various materials and techniques.

How do you think art and craft activities benefit students?
Art and craft activities enhance creativity, improve fine motor skills, and encourage teamwork. They also provide a fun way for students to express their emotions and thoughts, which can be therapeutic and boost their confidence in their abilities.

Do you still engage in any art or craft activities now?
Yes, I occasionally engage in art activities like painting and DIY crafts. It serves as a relaxing hobby for me, and I enjoy creating things with my hands. It helps me unwind and brings back fond memories of my school days.

When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

But it took few curves, it took some swings and then after took a revolution in the air, it landed and I felt very nice that a little experiment of craft went successful. Thanks for watching.

The art and craft activity that I had in my school was in 4th standard. We were asked to build our own model houses. So I chose three houses, specifically I chose to build an igloo, a tree house and a fully automated model house. Igloo was the most intriguing house that I built as I made it out of a coconut shell. I made a hole as an entrance and I filled it with cotton. After that I used sanded thermocol dust as snow. So that was really interesting. After that for tree house, I went to the park nearby. I collected some twigs so that I can make a tree. I made the leaves out of paper. I painted them and I made a little swing that is attached to the tree house. The swing, I added a little rubber band that looked like a tire so that it can mimic the swing that people used to have in the olden days. Additionally, I also made a fully automated house which has a drip irrigation, solar panel, lights and it had a lot of moving parts. I had to burn the midnight oil to make that. It took me around two weeks to make this single house alone. I used to collect plastic bottles to make doors for that. After that I used my mom's old saris.

Follow up questions

What inspired you to choose those specific types of houses?
I was inspired by my love for nature and technology. The igloo fascinated me because of its unique structure and how it represents cold climates. The tree house reminded me of childhood adventures, and the automated house was a way to combine creativity with technology, showcasing what I learned about sustainability.

Did you face any challenges while creating your models?
Yes, I faced several challenges, especially with the automated house. Making the moving parts work required a lot of trial and error. I also had to figure out how to make the drip irrigation system functional. It was frustrating at times, but overcoming those challenges made the final product even more rewarding.

How did your classmates react to your projects?
My classmates were really impressed! They loved the creativity of the igloo and the details in the tree house. Many of them were curious about how I made the automated house work. It felt great to share my ideas and see their enthusiasm, which encouraged me to explore more in art and craft.

I did this when I was in my 5th standard. So I will first talk about art like in our school time like from between 2nd standard to 8th standard In our school we have one period which is art school So in that my teacher, our teacher used to teach us how to make a drawing Like how to create a parrot, how to create an animal, how to create a fruit and all So one day he took a surprise test and he told us to create a bird So but with all the measurement and all like we have to first create a circle Then we have to create a rectangle, then we have to create the feather of the birds So in a proper, with a proper measurement So in that I have scored top, I don't know how but I have I was lucky on that time that I have that round up, then scale and proper equipment And proper stuff for drawing and colours also So I have scored top in that surprise test and my sir was really happy that I can do something in arts And from since my childhood I was really really into arts But due to some other activities like in due to because of sports or because of some career I forgot the art, forgot about my passion that what I am really into and I am calling all this stuff But one day if I get a chance to create or get a chance to make something, to draw something I will definitely and about craft I am not good, not much good in craft Because like it is really hard to make, like my hands were short on that time

Band 6-7

Back in the day when I was in my primary classes, my school used to conduct an activity known as best out of waste. It was sort of a competition in which all the students used to take part and you have to make something out of scrap or waste or used material and make something out of it, something productive and useful in everyday life, something like that. So generally people make a matchbox and maybe ice cream sticks, all those things. But I used to make, or I once made actually, I made a cooler out of a cardboard box. We put some ice into it and a fan was put into it and that was connected to the battery. So when the fan used to be on, the cold air was generated due to the ice into it and it was pretty much working. It was a best out of waste AC that we made and it was placed second position in my school. So I was very proud of it and it was a great way to, you know, turn out your creative side and it was a great experience for me. I have never had so much fun and it was pretty much a great moment as I have not really been winning all those things in my school days. I rarely used to win competitions but when I won that, I was feeling very proud about it. So I would say that was sort of a nostalgic experience for me but many of the other students also made a lot of things like someone made an electric boat or those sort of things but maybe they thought that it was not all that useful. Yes, it was working and it was made out of the waste but it was not working all that much and neither was it useful. So I think I won it and I deserved it.

My school has has a special session regarding the craft activity. During that craft activity class, I did a craft work on a bird's nest. I made a bird nest by using coconut thread, papers, glue and scissor. I cut the paper into a triangle and I also used a bottle to make this shape as a nest. So I cut the bottle into a nest shape and I covered the whole bottle with coconut thread so that it looks like a natural nest. I took my parents help to do this work because it's a project submission to my school. So my parents helped me to prepare this nest. They helped me in giving things, buying things, buying materials from outside. After making that, I feel it was very beautiful. Still now it is with me. I recall we had a specific class known as Arts Craft Arts class during school and for that I prepared a vase. So back in the days we used to get almond milk in a glass bottle which is quite small. So I used that as the base of the vase and around that I tied wool and stuck it with glue. And on top of that I put pistachio shells on it to form little flower designs. I would have been 14 years old when I did that and I was quite proud of that accomplishment although the outcome was quite notorious I must say. Most importantly I recall having a lot of fun getting my uniform all messed up with the glue stains. But yes our teacher did reward us for the effort and did give me an A grade on that. I still have that vase placed in my school memory boxes and till this date I remember all the good fun I had at school. I miss those days quite dearly because those were the days.

as a part of art and craft activity class in my school I had made a boat using paper. How I made it is by using paper scissor. I was able to make the boat with help of color papers and crayons etc. I felt really good after doing something that nobody has done it and I was able to actually won second prize doing it.
