Which Universities offer a Masters in Computer Science in Singapore
Four programs matter for an Indian applicant, and they are not interchangeable.
NUS Master of Computing (with Specialisations) offers three tracks: Computer Science, Information Systems and Infocomm Security. It is the closest thing Singapore has to a conventional MS in CS. NUS also runs a Master of Computing in Artificial Intelligence as a separate program with its own application.

NTU's Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MSAI) sits in the College of Computing and Data Science. NTU notes the university is ranked 4th in the world for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
SMU's Master of Science in Computing is different in kind. It is a research-track degree at the School of Computing and Information Systems, aimed at candidates who want to work at the intersection of IT and business research. It costs roughly a third of the other two.
One correction worth making early. NUS confirms that effective from AY2025 there is only one intake each year, in August. Pages still listing January and August intakes for the Master of Computing are out of date.
Counselor insight: Indian students often apply to NUS MComp CS and NUS MComp in AI assuming one form covers both. They are separate applications with separate fees. If you want both considered, the NUS system lets you name your second and third specialization preferences inside the personal statement for the with specializations program, but the AI program is applied for on its own.

All tuition figures are inclusive of the prevailing 9% GST and come from each university's own fee page.
Counselor insight: The tuition column is the entire strategic conversation. If the Rs.50 lakh number stops your family cold, do not quietly drop Singapore. Look at the SMU column again. It is a genuinely different program with a different purpose, but it is a real Singapore computing master's at Rs.16.38 lakh.
Eligibility for a Masters in Computer Science in Singapore
Start with the fact that no aggregator page seems to carry.
NUS accepts GATE scores from graduates of Indian universities as an alternative to GRE or GMAT, for both the MComp with Specialisations and the MComp in AI. If you already sat GATE during your BTech, you may not need to book a GRE at all. The published NUS alternatives are GRE minimums of 320 combined Verbal and Quantitative with 3.5 in Analytical Writing, a GMAT of 650, or GATE.
The rest of the NUS picture:
- English: TOEFL 90 internet-based or IELTS Academic 6.0, required only if your degree was not taught entirely in English. Scores are valid two years and must not be expired at the point of application.
- GRE scores are valid five years.
- For the MComp in AI, NUS asks for a bachelor's degree, preferably with honours, in computing, or with honours in a related discipline, or in a business-related discipline. Applicants without a computing honours degree need two years of IT industry experience.
NTU MSAI sets a higher English bar and a narrower academic one. NTU asks for a good honours degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related discipline with solid mathematical training, or a good bachelor's in those areas plus two years of relevant industry experience. English proof is IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 100, or a certificate confirming English as the medium of instruction. GRE scores and reference letters are optional.
NTU also runs a zero-credit Python bridging course in the first semester for students whose degree involved limited programming training. It is not compulsory.
SMU requires a bachelor's degree with good honours in a relevant discipline, two academic referee reports, and a GRE or GMAT score. SMU waives the GRE or GMAT for graduates of SMU, NUS, NTU and SUTD, which does not help an Indian applicant, so budget for one of those tests if SMU is on your list.
Counselor insight: Check your GATE validity before spending Rs.22,000 on a GRE. A GATE score you sat in your final year may still be usable for NUS. That said, GATE only opens the NUS door. NTU treats GRE as optional and SMU requires GRE or GMAT outright, so a student applying across all three still needs one international test.
Masters in Computer Science in Singapore Fees and total Cost in INR
Here is the correction that matters most for your budget.
Several study-abroad pages claim the NUS Master of Computing drops to roughly S$18,150 after an MOE Tuition Grant with a three-year Singapore work bond. Treat that with caution. NTU states explicitly on its MSAI page that the university currently has no scholarship, government service agreement, or service obligation scheme available for that program. The financial assistance NTU does list, a S$5,000 subsidy and a further S$5,000 CCDS study grant from the AY2026 intake, applies to Singapore citizens and permanent residents. The 10% rebate applies to NTU alumni. An Indian student arriving directly from India qualifies for none of these.
Plan on paying the published figure.
NUS Master of Computing (with Specialisations)
Tuition for students admitted from the August 2026 intake onward is S$67,144 inclusive of GST, which is Rs.50,45,201. The application fee is S$109 (Rs.8,190). On accepting an offer you pay a non-refundable, non-transferable acceptance fee of S$6,714.40 (Rs.5,04,520), which is credited towards your tuition. The published fee covers enrolment up to 40 units. Students who enrol beyond 40 units pay supplementary tuition.
NTU MSAI
Tuition for AY2025/26 and after is S$63,220 inclusive of GST, or Rs.47,50,351. A S$5,000 deposit (Rs.3,75,700) is payable on accepting the offer and is deducted from the first bill, but it is non-refundable and non-transferable. The application fee is S$50 (Rs.3,757). Full-time students are billed across two semesters. A one-time miscellaneous fee is billed each academic year.
SMU MSc in Computing
Total tuition is S$21,800 inclusive of GST, which is Rs.16,38,052. Add a S$15 application fee (Rs.1,127) and a S$500 registration fee for international students (Rs.37,570). The S$2,500 deposit (Rs.1,87,850) forms part of tuition but is not refunded if you withdraw after accepting. SMU also offers a Merit Award of up to S$5,000 (Rs.3,75,700) on a competitive basis, applied against the second billing.
Living costs and realistic totals
Budget S$12,000 to S$15,000 a year, which is Rs.9.02 lakh to Rs.11.27 lakh, for accommodation, food and transport.

Counselor insight: The deposit is where families get caught. NTU's S$5,000 is non-refundable and non-transferable. All documents are uploaded online. None of the three schools want hardcopies at application stage. NUS notes it will not upload documents on an applicant's behalf, and that incomplete applications are not processed.
Counselor insight: Your SOP is doing more work here than in most countries because these programs take no interview for the majority of applicants. SMU runs a separate cycle. Its January 2027 intake window opened on 1 May 2026 and closed 30 September 2026, so if SMU interests you, check the SCIS application page for the next window rather than assuming an October to January calendar.
Counselor insight: Indian final-semester exams run April to May. The NUS deadline of 31 January falls comfortably before that, which is good news, but it also collides with placement season at most Indian colleges. Block two weekends in December for the application, before campus placements consume you.
Which Masters in Computer Science in Singapore Route fits you
If you are a final-year BTech CSE student graduating in June 2027 with a valid GATE score: apply to NUS MComp with a Computer Science first preference and Information Systems named as a backup in your personal statement. Your GATE score covers the aptitude requirement. Add NTU MSAI if AI is your target, budgeting for the higher IELTS 6.5 bar.
If you are a backend engineer two years into a Bengaluru services firm without a computing honours degree: your experience is an asset here rather than an obstacle. NUS MComp in AI accepts non-honours computing backgrounds with two years of IT industry experience, and NTU accepts a good bachelor's plus two years of relevant industry experience. Lead your CV with production systems, not job titles.
If Rs.50 lakh is not fundable and you want research exposure: SMU's MSc in Computing at Rs.16.38 lakh total is the honest answer, alongside the SINGA route for fully funded research study. What to do When Things go Wrong
You missed the 31 January NUS deadline. NUS runs one August intake a year now. Use the year for a stronger portfolio and a GATE or GRE attempt, and consider whether SMU's separate cycle fits your timeline.
Your IELTS or TOEFL fell short. Check whether you need it. If your BTech was taught entirely in English, request a formal medium-of-instruction certificate. Note the gap between schools: NUS asks IELTS 6.0 while NTU asks 6.5, so a 6.0 keeps NUS live even if NTU is out.
You have no aptitude test score in hand. For NUS, GATE may already solve this. For NTU, GRE is optional. Only SMU makes GRE or GMAT unavoidable for an Indian applicant.
Both NUS and NTU reject you. These are competitive programs, and meeting the minimums guarantees nothing. NTU says so on its own page. A year of stronger industry experience genuinely changes a non-honours application.
Your loan sanction falls short of Rs.60 lakh. Say so before you accept. Deposits at NTU are non-refundable. Model the SMU route or a different country rather than accepting an offer you cannot fund.
No job offer as your Student's Pass nears expiry. Speak to the career office in your final semester. An S Pass role at a lower salary threshold is a separate route with its own rules, not a discounted EP.
