The most valuable package attached to this scheme sits at the University of Hong Kong, and most applicants do not know it is automatic. For the 2026/27 exercise, HKU states that all HKPFS holders receive the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship. There is no separate application.

That totals roughly Rs.1.58 crore over three years, or Rs.2.1 crore over four if tuition holds at the 2027-28 rate. Selected students may also be funded for an additional year beyond the normative period. For comparison, CUHK states its 2027-28 package reaches HK$1.81 million, about Rs.2.2 crore.
