Counselor insight: SIT is the best choice for your budget because it has a work-study model and costs only a third of what NUS does. SIT is a major, not a backup, if you can't get into NUS or NTU without a grant.
Eligibility and Admission Requirements for BCA in Singapore for Indian Students
The requirements for getting into a Singapore university to get a BCA are a little different for each school, but the general idea is the same.
- Academic requirement: You need to have a 10+2 (Class 12) degree from an Indian board (CBSE, ICSE, or State Board) with a GPA of at least 60–75%. You need to get at least 75% of the way into NUS or NTU. For SIT and SUSS, 60% is usually enough.
- Subject requirement: To get into computer science programs, all universities require or strongly suggest that students take math at the 10+2 level.
- English proficiency: To be eligible, you need to have an average IELTS score of 6.0. NUS requires a score of 6.5 or higher, with no band below 6.0. The TOEFL iBT 85+ is another option. Some schools may let students off the hook if they went to English-medium schools for all of their 10+2 years.
- Standardised tests: Indian students who want to go to NUS or NTU don't have to take the SAT or ACT to get in as first-year students, but a high SAT score (1400 or higher) can help their chances of getting in at NUS.
Counselor insight: Many students who got 65–70% in Class 12 think they can't get into NUS or NTU. That isn't always true. People from India who are on the edge of passing their grades have been accepted to NTU if they have a strong IELTS score (6.5 or higher), a well-written SOP, and coding projects or internships that are related to their field. But don't only apply to NTU and NUS. Before you send it anywhere, make sure that SIT or SUSS is always on your list.

A Student Pass lets a student work up to 16 hours a week during the school year and full-time during the summer. Most part-time jobs pay between SGD 8 and 12 an hour, which is about Rs. 590 to 885 an hour.
Counselor insight: Indian students always think that food in Singapore is cheaper than it really is. People on a budget will love hawker centers because a full meal only costs SGD 4–12 (Rs. 295–885). Students who use food service apps spend almost twice as much on food each month. If you're a student, look for HDB flats in Clementi, Jurong, or Tampines instead of near Orchard. You can also get a discounted MRT pass. You can save between 40,000 and 60,000 rupees a year by doing these three things.
Scholarships for BCA in Singapore for Indian Students
Indian students can apply for the following scholarships to reduce the cost of BCA in Singapore.
| Scholarship Name | Offered By | Coverage | Min. Eligibility | Bond Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SMU Global Impact Scholarship | SMU | Partial to Full tuition coverage | Merit-based; Open to all Computing students | None |
| SIT Merit Scholarship | SIT | Partial tuition fees | Successful admission to an SIT program | None specified |
| National Overseas Scholarship | India MoSJE | Full costs (Airfare, Tuition, Living) | SC/ST students; Check current UG eligibility | Return to India post-study |
Counselor insight: The ASEAN grant is very hard. People who got a 95% in Class 12 and did well in their free time have been turned down. Make a plan for your money as if you won't get the grant, if that's the main reason you want to go to NUS or NTU. Even if NUS is your first choice, you should still apply for the SMU Global Impact and SIT Merit scholarships because more people get them.

If an Indian student graduates from a university in Singapore that is not run by the government and gets a job offer, they can apply for a Work Pass (also called an Employment Pass or S Pass). You can't just get a work visa after you finish school; your boss has to ask for it. After studying in the UK, Canada, or Australia, there are very different options for work.
To get a better idea of how much people make and what kinds of jobs they can get, check out a detailed breakdown of the average salary in Singapore for Indian students.
Counselor insight: Many students want to know if an Indian company will accept a BCA from Singapore. Degrees from NUS, NTU, and SMU are very well known in Indian IT companies and MNCs. People don't respect degrees from top schools like PSB Academy as much. The school you choose is more important than your GPA if you want to go back to India after college.
3 Takeaways for BCA in Singapore
- Make sure that the score you want to get on the IELTS meets the specific needs of each university. Most schools will take 6.0, but NUS needs 6.5. If you take the IELTS early, you'll have time to retake it if you need to without missing any application deadlines.
- Plan your budget for all four years in rupees, not just the fees for the first year. Use this article's prices to estimate your four-year tuition and living expenses. If your family can't afford the total cost, you should only apply to SIT or use a grant as a must.
- You should send your resume to more than one school. NUS and NTU accept only about 5% of foreign applicants. If you don't get into a top university, always have SIT or SUSS ready. This way, you won't lose the whole year of intake.

Frequently Asked Questions About BCA in Singapore
-
Is BCA available directly in Singapore for Indian students?
Most universities in Singapore don't have a program called "BCA." Bachelor of Computing (NUS), B.Eng. in Computer Science (NTU), and BSc in Information Technology (SIT, SUSS) are all degrees that are the same. These degrees are equivalent to a BCA in India and can be used for jobs or further study.
-
What is the total cost of BCA in Singapore for an Indian student?
Tuition and living costs total approximately Rs.95 lakh to Rs.1.27 crore for a 4-year program at NUS or NTU. At SIT, the total for 4 years is around Rs.30-45 lakh tuition + Rs.40-50 lakh living = Rs.70-95 lakh. These numbers depend on where you live and how you live your life. Scholarships can cut the cost of college by a lot.
-
What IELTS score do I need for BCA in Singapore?
Overall, you need to get an IELTS score of 6.5 to get into NUS. Schools like NTU, SIT, SUSS, and SMU will usually accept an IELTS score of 6.0. Some private schools will take 5.5. Before you apply, check out each school's official page for admissions.
-
Can I get a scholarship for BCA in Singapore as an Indian student?
Indian students can get the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship at NUS and NTU. This scholarship pays for all of their living and school costs. There is a lot of competition. You could also get the Singapore Government Study Award. For most scholarships, you have to promise to work in Singapore after you graduate.
-
How many hours can I work while doing BCA in Singapore?
With a Singapore Student Pass, a student can work up to 16 hours a week while still in school. They might work full-time during school breaks. If you work more than 16 hours a week, you are breaking the rules of your visa, and your Student Pass could be taken away.
-
Is a BCA from a Singapore university valid in India?
Degrees from NUS, NTU, SMU, SIT, and SUSS are recognized all over the world, even in India. Universities in the UK or Australia that work with private schools like PSB Academy recognize and accept degrees from those schools. For jobs in the Indian government or in regulated professions, check with the right Indian authority to make sure you are recognized.
-
What happens if my Class 12 result is delayed and I have a conditional offer from a Singapore university?
Write to the admissions office right away to let them know. Most universities in Singapore will accept a provisional certificate that is on school letterhead and has the principal's signature on it as proof that the student passed. As soon as the results are out, attach your grade report and email it to the admissions office immediately, without waiting for a prompt.
-
Which is better for BCA in Singapore: NUS or SIT?
If you got more than 80% in Class 12 and got a scholarship, NUS has a better reputation around the world and a bigger network of alumni. If you want to save money, learn by doing, or have grades between 60 and 70%, SIT's work-study model can help you get real-world experience while you study and lower your tuition costs.
