Describe a successful businessperson you know: IELTS Speaking Cue Card

Today, I would like to talk about my mother, who is a very successful business woman. She started her business, a dairy farm business in her mid-thirties, where our family just migrated from a village to a small town, and she chose to be independent and start her own business. She played a vital role in our financial benefits and management, moreover, she is one of the person I look up to, because even at the mid-thirties, when she didn't know the place we migrated to, she stood upon her own and took responsibility of our whole family, and she just managed everything on her own. She is one of the most successful women that our town talks about, because many people will show her as an example about how she grew up, she went through a lot of struggles, she still does, and she, in spite of all the struggles, she chose to stand up and take care of the family. She is the one who paid for our education, for our food, for our home, our father's farming, helped our farmer through farming, and everything. Her story is inspiring and all. She is the first woman in our family to start a business and become successful. She is successful.

I would like to speak about my friend Sumit Morey. He is a successful entrepreneur who have developed various apps in the field of biomedical engineering which is helpful in diagnosing many diseases. So I know Sumit Morey right from my childhood days. We were in same primary school, high school and later on we graduated from same engineering college. Further he went for his master's degree in US where he did his master's in AI and machine learning from the University of Maryland. He then came back to India and set up his own startup called non-stop stop iOS where he developed various apps related to biomedical engineering, genetic engineering and medicine development with the help of various networks that he has developed at University of Maryland. So he chose this career because of his passion in computer science. Right from his school days I remember they were having a desktop computer when none of the my school friends were having. So this I believe helped him to develop interest in computer programs and he was very very avid learner. So I believe this is the reason why he chose this career. A successful business person whom I know is my dad, obviously. Like I grew up watching him. He started his business idea since I was 10 years old. He started with a small shop, like featuring all the little products required for hotels. Now due to his hard work and determination, he has three shops in a hometown, which mainly supplies all the products required to hotels. At an early age, he used to generate some 20-30K when I was 10 years old. And currently he is generating around a lakh per month. That shows his true determination at his work. I am really inspired from him. At times when I visit my hometown, I just go to my dad's shop to see how the business runs. I often get tips from him on how to run a successful business. He will be giving some ideas on how to start a new startup idea, in case if I am going to do in the future. And I do believe my dad is always there to back me up when I am about to start a new venture.

If I have to talk about one of the most successful business person I know, I would always say Sir Ratan Naval Tata. He is no more in this world today but he has always left that legacy behind. I would not say he is a businessman but rather an industrialist and he was the chief executive officer and the chairperson of the entire Tata Group and all the substitutes of Tata Groups. He is one of the most prominent business figures. He was an excellent philanthropist who has worked day and night for the betterment of this entire nation. Today Tata Group is one of the most emerging and the biggest emeritus in the country where each and everything from the automobiles to home appliances, to cars, to schools, to hospitals, in each and every sector the Tata industry has expanded. He chose this career because he wanted to work for the betterment of his people. He wanted to do something so that his entire country can progress and he wanted to create a new scenario, new environment for his countrymen and his people. That is why although he successfully completed his education from abroad, he chose to come back to his country and he chose a career here and that is how the Tata Group was founded and today Tata Group is one of the most reputed groups in our country. Right from each and everything, right from the smallest thing to one of the biggest manufacturers, Tata has its hand and not only that but Tata has given employment to n number of people. So I would always be taking inspiration from him. He has left a big legacy behind and I am truly happy.

A successful business person I know is my cousin, his name is Prabhucharan, he is elder than me, like 5 months elder than me but he achieved so much that I am really proud of him. He owns a factory that makes saris especially, other than saris there are also other tech tools he is working on but saris are mainly his brand and his factory is in such a position this day is because of his saris. He often has the zeal for the business from the childhood, on one hand his father always wanted him to be an engineer so he studied engineering and civil and also pursued the masters in the scene. On the other hand his passion towards the business has moved him and made him to start his first step in the textile business which made him the owner of the factory today and also which allowed him to give an opportunity and also made him one of the member in our town to be proud of. I admire him the most in my family because of his passion towards his future and also his dedication and one thing I must have to mention apart from all these he always have time for his family despite of his struggles, despite of his every hardship he always makes time for his family, he goes on a vacation with his wife and he also has one child so he is the most successful person I know. One day I am really looking forward to put myself in that position and be a successful person of my own passion.
