Show all 111 answers

Cue 1:What the rule is?

  • Clearly state the rule you dislike, making sure to explain what it entails.
  • Provide context about where this rule is commonly applied.

Example

The rule I dislike is the strict dress code in my college, which requires students to wear formal attire every day. This rule applies to all students and is enforced during classes and college events.

Cue 2:Why you dislike it?

  • Explain your personal feelings about the rule and how it affects you.
  • Mention any specific incidents or experiences that highlight your dislike.

Example

I dislike this rule because it stifles our individuality and self-expression. For instance, I feel uncomfortable wearing formal clothes every day, especially when I prefer casual wear. Once, I had to attend a class in a hot summer, and wearing formal attire made me feel very uneasy and distracted.

Cue 3:What would you change and why?

  • Suggest a more flexible alternative to the current rule.
  • Explain the benefits of your proposed change for students and the college environment.

Example

I would change the rule to allow students to wear smart casual attire instead of formal clothes. This change would make students feel more comfortable and confident, which could enhance their learning experience. It would also promote a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere on campus.

Conclusion

    Example

In conclusion, while rules are important for maintaining order, I believe that some, like the strict dress code in my college, can be re-evaluated. Allowing more freedom in our attire would not only reflect our personalities but also create a more enjoyable learning environment.

When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

The rule that I am not fond of is the way women are treated in a society. We are all very aware of the gender inequalities in the official work and informally. It raises concern for all the daughters around the globe for their education to establish. It seems to me that if I ever become someone that can change and make the world better for the women in India, I would totally change this rule. I likely remember the parenting differences for a boy and a girl. Since I am a girl, I happen to know the discrimination held against us.

Rules are important in our day-to-day life, it keeps us in discipline, but if I have to change a rule, it would be wearing uniforms. In my school time, I am totally opposed to this. I believe that there should be no rule for wearing same uniforms daily. I found that quite boring and on top of that, I also think that in today's world, we should prepare the students for the future by not imposing school uniforms in schools because they have to face that racism in college also when they come, when they go to higher studies because there were no uniforms in colleges or universities. So why not we prepare them in hand before universities and oppose this rule of wearing uniforms in school also. Then there was birthdays in school times. I was over the moon because I have to, there is no compulsion of wearing uniforms in my own birthdays. So it was the cherry on top for me because I don't like to wear uniforms and I think that it would benefit both schools and children to discard this rule because there are people who can't afford uniforms because uniforms are very expensive and they can only be purchased from the schools.

So as I am an Indian, and not only in India, but in most of the un-urbanized places, the major issue, major social issue is with women. Women, they are not safe there to work outside. They are not safe to take their own decisions. There is always a difference made between boys and girls. So, I just faced it. Parents, they don't like, they don't agree to send their daughters for higher education to reputable institutions due to various issues. The most major issue is empowerment of women.

One of the rules that I do not dislike in this era is that the children have to strictly listen to the parents and it is not a hardcore rule that it has to be followed but then it is more of a cultural thing that people follow. I think in the present era that wouldn't make sense as the children, the younger generation have more creative ideas and they have more knowledge as well at their disposal because of the internet and vast amount of knowledge and advancements in the present field. However, they lack the experience of using those ideas and being able to express themselves in the society. Now this is where I feel parents can lend a hand and guide the children if not make decisions for them and help them achieve their dreams and explore their creative ideas. On the contrary, it is also important that children do listen to their parents when their expertise comes in and this allows the parents also to explore new areas and children to follow their dreams. So overall, I would say that it is best to combine both of the ideas and achieve the end goal. However, it is not as easy as it seems, I do know. For example, my idea.

I would say honking is a kind of a rule that I dislike the most. Usually individuals honk during emergencies and it should be a place where honking is only allowed during emergency cases. But nowadays honking has become a part of driving. Each and every time you come across a vehicle you have to honk. And the more you honk the more noise pollution it creates. The amount of issues that it causes in a person physically is not accountable. It can cause ear and hearing issues and even disrupt ear balance. There should be some kind of technical appliance that should be allowed in traffic areas so that the honking should be reduced.

Hello friends, being as a student I would like to tell you there is a rule which I don't like. As I have seen there are so many colleges taking different fee for same courses. This fee is decided by school to school and this is not ok to do. If I have a power in future definitely I will try to change it and will equal fee for the same courses in all over colleges, in all the colleges of the city. Because I believe that education is required for everyone and everyone has right to take education on same price. Thank you for listening me.

The legal drinking age in several countries is 18. In my opinion, I dislike this rule only because I think 18 is a very early age to start drinking. Drinking is a decision that should be taken when a person is mature enough to understand the consequences of that. Drinking comes with its consequences like health problems, liver problems and can also affect emotional and mental behaviour. I really think this age limit should be more on the side of 21-25 when a person's mind is developed enough and the behaviour should not change just because you are under the influence of alcohol. In my opinion, drinking rules should be taken care of more strictly because I have seen people drinking even before 18. Therefore, to conclude my statement, I would like this age to be 25 so that until then children do not realise what comes with this drinking responsibility and then it could avoid a lot of accidents in fact. For example, there was a story where a drunk child runs over a female during an accident and does not realise what he has done. I think this

One rule I would like to change in my country is the current labour laws which I feel it is being exploited by the multinational corporations so that the employees can work longer and paid very less. If you compare the labour laws with the laws which is existing in the first world countries, you will find a massive disparage and the first world employees, especially the white collar people, they have much better labour laws comparing to ours. Unfortunately, people who doesn't care, people don't care about all these things and the laws still be the same and people getting exploited continuously still breaks my heart and I am too part of that fraternity. If I was a minister, I would like to change this law and ensure that all the MNCs follow the labour laws which benefits employees first so that we don't need to hear any god awful news of them getting off suicides or peer pressure. We don't want any external diseases coming into our country.

I personally don't like the government rule which is you will be considered an adult when you cross the age of 18 which is not good I feel. At that age mostly many of the teenagers don't know how they are going to settle in their life, the financial stability they have to go through, the economic stability, the relationship, the hormonal imbalance that occur in their body, they need time to get overcome to this and that is the rule I would never like, I never liked it and in the future I would never like it. If I could ever get the chance to change that rule I will make a statement or an agreement publicly that when you are officially adult age should be above 20 plus and 20-20 plus which is a good thing because it took some time to overcome the hormonal imbalance and all those things, getting 18 plus and considering yourself adult is a very problematic thing specially into the girls because in India there are lot of problems happens to the girls while they attain 18 they got married, they got pregnant and they have to face a lot of difficulties and sometimes they have to get tensed from the societal pressure and that is not at all correct, this should never happen, same goes with the boys, they don't know about the world outside, they are just growing teenagers, they don't know what's correct for them, what is wrong for them, they need to understand the society first, getting an adult they got a lot of advantages which is they mostly misuse it and that should not happen.

I do not like the rule of dowry. So basically dowry is applied whenever a marriage is happening and there has been a penalty over that. If the husband or husband's groom's family is asking for a dowry, then the bride or her family can file a case against it. I myself have been a law student and I have seen that dowry does not include the non-monetary exchanges between the families. Even though they have applied the rule, there are a lot of loopholes and still it is applicable to most places in our country. Every hour there has been a marriage in the country and there is dowry which has taken place in the marriage process. There are no records of it, nobody files any cases but I think how they should consider it is they should change the rule and in fact they should apply legal consequences more strict than it is currently now. If anybody is changing their status to getting married, they should also be able to check the birth certificate.
