Show all 111 answers

Cue 1:What the rule is?

  • Clearly state the rule you dislike, making sure to explain what it entails.
  • Provide context about where this rule is commonly applied.

Example

The rule I dislike is the strict dress code in my college, which requires students to wear formal attire every day. This rule applies to all students and is enforced during classes and college events.

Cue 2:Why you dislike it?

  • Explain your personal feelings about the rule and how it affects you.
  • Mention any specific incidents or experiences that highlight your dislike.

Example

I dislike this rule because it stifles our individuality and self-expression. For instance, I feel uncomfortable wearing formal clothes every day, especially when I prefer casual wear. Once, I had to attend a class in a hot summer, and wearing formal attire made me feel very uneasy and distracted.

Cue 3:What would you change and why?

  • Suggest a more flexible alternative to the current rule.
  • Explain the benefits of your proposed change for students and the college environment.

Example

I would change the rule to allow students to wear smart casual attire instead of formal clothes. This change would make students feel more comfortable and confident, which could enhance their learning experience. It would also promote a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere on campus.

Conclusion

    Example

In conclusion, while rules are important for maintaining order, I believe that some, like the strict dress code in my college, can be re-evaluated. Allowing more freedom in our attire would not only reflect our personalities but also create a more enjoyable learning environment.

When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

    Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

One social rule I genuinely dislike is the expectation that women should behave in a modest or reserved manner in public especially in traditional societies. This unspoken rule is deeply rooted in culture norms and although not written anywhere it is often enforced through judgment or criticism. I became aware of this rule during my teenage years when I spoke loudly, shared my opinions confidently or laughed openly in public. I would often receive comments from relatives or even strangers suggesting that it was unladylike. I found it confusing and frustrating because boys around me were never corrected for the same behavior. This rule makes me feel limited and unfairly judged as though women are not expected to constantly monitor their behavior simply to meet society's expectations. It promotes inequality and applying different standards to men and women. I dislike this rule because it discourages self-expression and reinforces outdated gender roles. Everyone should have the freedom to express themselves whether it's through speech, clothing or behavior without fear of being labeled or judged. In today's progressive world, I believe such social rules should be questioned and eventually discarded.

One rule I dislike is the strict dress code. In some education, in many schools and colleges in my country, students are required to wear a specific uniform or follow very rigid guidelines on what they can and cannot wear. For example, girls might not be allowed to wear jeans and everyone has to wear formal shoes even in hot weather. I understand the rule exists to maintain discipline and equality among students, which is fair to some extent. However, I feel it can be too restrictive and doesn't allow students to express their individuality or dress comfortably, especially during summer. Personally, I have always felt uncomfortable wearing the same uniform every day and I don't think what we wear should matter as long as it's appropriate and respectful. Instead of forcing everyone into the same outfit, I think schools and colleges should promote smart casual dress codes that are flexible but still neat.

    Band 7

One rule that I strongly dislike and would like to see changed in the future is the strict death code policy enforced in many schools in my country. To be more specific, students are often required to wear a formal uniform every single day regardless of the weather, their comfort, or the nature of the activity planned for the day. For example, even on the day when we had sports events or long lectures, we were expected to wear full-sleeve shirts, ties, and formal shoes, which I found quite unnecessary and even uncomfortable. This rule was implemented with the intention of maintaining discipline and uniformity among students. While I understand the logic behind it, I feel it limits individuality and self-expression, especially for teenagers who are just beginning to discover who they are. Moreover, such a rigid rule does not consider the practical need solution, particularly in a hot climate like ours. If I had the power to change this rule, I would suggest a more flexible dress code, perhaps a system where uniforms are worn only on specific days and students can dress casually but decently on others. This would not only improve comfort but also increase creativity and confidence among students. In conclusion, while discipline is important, I believe a rule should evolve with time, and this particular one feels outdated and unnecessary rigid. A more balanced approach could benefit both the institution and the students.

    Band 7

One rule that I strongly dislike and would like to see changed in the future is the strict uniform policy in schools. I think it is outdated and unnecessary to enforce a rigid dress code that restricts students personal expression and creativity. Uniforms can be quite expensive and they often do not accommodate different body types or personal styles. So I believe that allowing students to wear casual clothes to school would promote a more relaxed and inclusive learning environment. It would also give students the freedom to express themselves and showcase their individuality. Moreover, uniforms can be impractical for certain activities or weather conditions. For instance, wearing a blazer in the summer can be unbearable and it is not exactly practical for sports or outdoor activities. By allowing students to wear casual clothes, schools can prioritize comfort and practically while still maintaining a level of professionalism. Additionally, enforcing a strict uniform policy can be a significant burden on low income families who may struggle to afford the required attire. By relaxing the dress code, schools can help reduce the financial strain on these families and create a more equitable environment for all students in the future. I would like to see schools adopt more flexible and student-centered policies that prioritize comfort, creativity and self-expression.

One rule I strongly disagree with is the restriction on public protest especially when they are peaceful and issue based. This rule generally applies in many cities and capital regions where large gatherings require prior police permission and are often disallowed near government buildings or key public areas. I particularly disliked how this rule was enforced during farmers' protests in India between 2020 and 2021 where thousands of farmers were not allowed to enter central Delhi to peacefully voice their opposition to the new farm laws. In several instances, the protesters faced barricades, water cannons, and internet shutdowns. This rule, in my opinion, directly affected the right of the farmers to be heard. I believe this rule should be changed to allow peaceful protests without excessive restrictions, provided they do not incite violence or disrupt essential services. Peaceful demonstration is a fundamental part of any democratic society. In addition, such a change would allow citizens to express their concerns respectfully while still maintaining law and order. It would also help build trust between the public and the government by promoting open communication.

basic it is difficult. Okay for me we are surrounded by many rules and regulations in our country especially in India. For me one of the rules which I dislike the most is the license the rules are against the driving license which can be only taken after an individual is 18 years or above but in this today era where everyone says age is just number but actually when it comes to the part where somebody has to learn something new from the very basics I think driving should also be included in the education system and that the age of 18 can be reduced to 16 because for two wheelers it is now applicable for 16 years but when it comes to four wheelers it is still 18 years so for an individual who wants to get his driver's license he has to wait till 18 years before that teenagers are driving the vehicles without license that also without knowing any rules and regulations therefore what I like the most is that if it is reduced it will be helpful for everyone moreover it can also be beneficial for many age groups as it seems to have a direct relationship with studying so I would like to include by saying

The rule that I don't like was about license, which is provided after completing the 18 years. That is not comfortable for me to hear, because I have started riding the motorcycle from my 10th standard. At that time I was 15 years old. At that time I was ready to ride a motorcycle in the roads. 18 years was a very long age to achieve a license. It should be changed in the future. If I don't like a rule in my country, that is this problem in my country.

So the one rule that I would like to change in future is about using mobile phones in school or college as right now in many schools and colleges students are not allowed to use their phones during class hours even if it's for the educational purposes. While I really understand that the rule is meant to avoid distractions but I also think it's a bit too strict especially in the today's digital age. Phones can be very helpful for quick research, taking notes, setting reminders or even using educational apps. If students are taught to use them responsibly phones could improve learning instead of harming it. So I believe that instead of completely banning phones I would like to change the rule to allow limited and monitor use of mobile phones in the classroom at least for the learning purposes. This way the students can stay engaged with the technology without missing anything.

A rule that I greatly dislike and would like to change in future would be the trust code rule that we have to follow in schools and universities. I find it totally unnecessary and I really hate how strict it is. First of all, how we have that, they describe, they define us, one of the rule that I dislike and would like to change in future would be the trust code rule that we have to follow in schools and universities. I find it totally unnecessary and not at all important. First of all, I would like to say how we, students are judged based on how they wear their uniform and not by their performance, if they do not wear a proper uniform, if they don't pleat their hair or don't wear socks or shoes, they are made to stand out of the class just because of that, which is totally not that important and nothing which is related to what the main reason why we come to school and learn. And moreover, if you think about it, it is not something, a rule that I dislike and would like to change in this future would be the dress code, kind of brush up with all the tops, they can ask, right, a rule that I would greatly like to change in the future would be the dress code rule that is mainly followed in schools and universities. I find it totally unnecessary. First of all, if you don't pleat your hair or don't cut your nails or don't put socks or don't wear an ID card, you are made to stand out of the class and you can't enter the class just because of that, which is totally not something which is appropriate. As we come to school, mainly for, there are basically two rules that I would like to change in the future. One is the dress code rule as well as the attendance rule. The dress code rule and the attendance rule is followed in many of the schools in India. First of all, if you don't have a 75% of attendance, you cannot write the exam, which is totally not appropriate and if you don't wear a proper dress code, that is like if you don't pleat your hair, don't shave your beard, don't comb your hair, you cannot attend the class and based on that, also your attendance will be reduced. So, I basically feel this is very not appropriate and something that needs to be changed as students should not be judged based on their dressing but based on their performance and these rules I would bring up. Rules that I would like to change in the future that I basically dislike are the attendance rule and the dress code rule which are mainly followed in schools and universities. I find it totally unnecessary as first of all, students should not be judged based on how they wear the uniform or based on how they pleat their hair or how long their socks are and their attendance shouldn't be the only reason why they are not allowed to sit and write an exam, which is totally invalid. I feel like schools should focus more on educating students and making them more independent instead of wasting their time on such invalid things. I would like to change this rule in such a way that students can dress in casual wear and need not attend class if they are not at all well and instead they might be given a small assignment which they have to write, with which they can still write the exam. I would like to change this rule in such a way that students can dress in casual wear and need not attend class if they are not at all well and instead they might be given a small assignment which they have to write, with which they can still write the exam. A rule that I greatly dislike and would like to change would be the dress code rule which is followed in many of the schools in India. Students are forced to buy uniform, wear suit and coat to bring uniformity. I find it very outdated and unnecessary. Instead of focusing on this kind of stumps, I feel like schools should focus on making students more viramaru. A rule that I would like to change in the future that I really dislike would be the uniform or the dress code rule which is followed in schools and colleges. I know this school and universities are bringing this rule to bring uniformity between the students. But first of all, if you think about it, they are forced to wear a particular uniform. The girls are made to braid their hair, the boys are told to cut their hair and comb their hair and to shave their beard. They are not even allowed to grow their natural beard to be presentable. I would like to bring changes to this rule by allowing students to dress casually but yet appropriately and I believe schools instead of concentrating on these kind of details concentrate on giving more focus to educational part of it and trying to make students more independent and giving more workshop classes to the students.

There are many rules which are being followed in India or in all at global levels but specific rule which I don't like is none other than that men and women are not equal. It's very phenomenal thing that in addition to that there are many various of things that I have seen like for example when I went to a doctor for my dermatologist there was two doctors in same hospital like for men and women there were different doctors but why? It shouldn't be like that every person is equal and there should be humanity in others that no man and woman are different both are same there shouldn't be any sort of discrimination among humans. Furthermore, it's the main reason that I don't like that you discriminate and have a crucial fact among girls and women and boys and mans that each and all of you are different that you can't do anything but my dear fellow mate we can do everything what mans do and in future definitely if I get a chance I would change this rule that each and every person has a different right to vote then there should be different sort of perspective in each and every person that there is no man and woman are not different they are similar to each other and they can do what others can do also. There is nothing that girls can't do.
