FAQs

Q. How much time is given to listen to IELTS?

Ans. The IELTS listening test consists of four sections, and you are given approximately 30 minutes to complete all sections. You will listen to recordings of native English speakers and answer questions based on what you hear. Each section gets progressively more challenging, with varying accents and speech speeds to test your comprehension skills.

Q. How is IELTS listening calculated?

Ans. Your score in the IELTS listening test is calculated based on the number of correct answers you provide. Each correct answer earns one point, and there is no penalty for incorrect answers. The total number of correct answers across all four sections is converted into a band score, ranging from 0 to 9. The higher your score, the better your proficiency in understanding spoken English.

Q. How can I get an 8.5 on the IELTS listening test?

Ans. To achieve a band score of 8.5 on the IELTS listening test, focus on practising with authentic materials to familiarise yourself with different accents and speech speeds. Develop techniques like predicting answers and using keywords to locate information. Manage your time effectively during the test. Consistent practice and attention to detail can help you aim for higher band scores.
