Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must be an international student from outside the EU/EEA.
  • The student who is applying must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Given that English is the primary medium of instruction at the majority of Finnish universities, the candidate must be able to write, speak, and understand the language. If English is not your first language, the university may require you to officially demonstrate your English proficiency level. IELTS, TOEFL and PTE are the most commonly accepted options, but other alternatives may also be available. The university you are applying to can advise you on their English proficiency test requirements and any possible exemption rules.
  • Given that English is the primary medium of instruction at most Finnish universities, the candidate must be able to write, speak, and understand the language.
  • Any applicants who have already attended school in Finland are ineligible for this grant.
  • The applicants must meet the requirements established by the school or program they are applying to.

Financial Benefits

  • The scholarship covers a first-year tuition fee and a relocation grant of EUR 5000 (INR 4,58,515).
  • The EUR 5000 (INR 4,58,515) is paid to a Finnish bank account after the student has arrived in Finland and registered as an attending student at the university. The 5000 euro scholarship is paid once and only during the first year of the studies.
  • Many universities offer further scholarships for the second year of master’s studies. Please see the links for the participating institutions below.

You can apply for a scholarship from the university when you apply for admission. You can apply for a Finland Scholarship with the same online application when you apply to the university in January 2024. The online application will be available during the application period. Please check the application procedure, deadlines and detailed requirements directly from the university.
