Selection Procedure for DAAD Scholarships

All DAAD scholarships have their own selection committees that evaluate every application comprehensively. The committees may be in Germany or established locally (for Indian students in India), depending on the scholarship program. The selection criteria may primarily depend on factors such as:

  • Quality of the project proposed
  • Applicants’ academic achievements and excellence
  • Applicants’ research proposal and work experience
  • Excellent references and letters of recommendation

It must also be noted that while there are no interview sessions, the committee may require a personal introduction based on the scholarship program and the applicant’s location. Moreover, GRE scores are not mandatory. But if you have an above-par GRE score, it may significantly increase the chances of landing the DAAD scholarship. Thus, applicants can keep these factors in mind while applying to get selected for a DAAD scholarship.
