University of Warsaw Fees 2027-28: How UW Sets Tuition for Indian Students

University of Warsaw fees for Indian students range from about Rs.1,07,000 (€1,000) to Rs.19,26,000 (€18,000) a year in tuition. Most English-taught programs sit between €1,000 and €5,500. There is no single university-wide fee: UW sets a separate fee for each program. The latest published list is for 2026-27, which is the best guide for planning a 2027-28 start.

As an Indian citizen, you pay the non-EU rate, and the gap can be large. On the 2026-27 list, machine learning is free for EU/EFTA and Swiss citizens but costs 3,300 EUR for everyone else. Some programs charge one flat fee regardless of citizenship, such as Business and Management at 4,000 EUR. A few programs are free for everyone; Migration Studies and New Societies, for example, is listed as free of charge.

Currency matters as well. Most English programs are billed in euros, while a handful, such as Psychology and Cognitive Science, are billed in zloty. Your rupee cost therefore moves with two exchange rates.

Counselor insight: UW's fees are tied to your cohort. For example, the Psychology faculty sets one fee per year for students who started in 2025-26 or 2026-27. Budget using the fee list for the year you actually start, not the year you first looked.

University of Warsaw Tuition Fees by Program for Indian Students

The table below shows non-EU fees from UW's 2026-27 list. These are the latest published University of Warsaw fees. UW normally releases the next year's list around June, so verify 2027-28 figures then.

Exchange rate used: Rs.25.13 per PLN; Rs.107 per EUR. Verify the current rate before finalising your budget.

Read the table with two cautions. First, a few fees are quoted per semester, so double them for the annual cost. Second, the same subject can cost different amounts at bachelor's and master's level: Archaeology is €2,300 for the bachelor's and €2,500 for the master's. Indian NEET students should also note that UW and the Medical University of Warsaw are separate universities. Pages listing medicine fees in the Rs.13 lakh-plus range usually refer to the Medical University, not UW.

Other University of Warsaw Fees Indian Students Must Budget For

Tuition is the biggest line, but smaller University of Warsaw fees arrive at awkward moments, often before any loan money is released.

UW's application fee is 85 PLN per program, or 100 PLN if the program includes a written exam, oral exam or interview. The student ID fee is 22 PLN. NAWA issues its recognition statement free of charge. Dorm reservation fees vary by building: 530 PLN at dormitory no. 1, 900 PLN at no. 5 and 1,000 PLN at no. 7. The deposit equals one month's fee for UW students and NAWA scholarship holders, and two months' fee in other cases.

For the D visa, the applicant pays 80 euros. For the residence permit, the stamp duty is 340 PLN, and there is a separate fee for issuing the residence card. 

Counselor insight: Registering for three programs, paying a dorm reservation, and paying the visa fee can cost Rs.40,000 or more before your first tuition payment. Keep this amount separate from your tuition budget.

Living Costs Beyond University of Warsaw Fees

UW's own dormitories are the cheapest housing. For 2026-27, a place costs 520 to 1,100 PLN a month (Rs.13,068 to Rs.27,643), depending on the building and room standard. Two examples:

• At dormitory no. 1, a single room costs 600 PLN and a place in a double room costs 520 PLN per person.
• At dormitory no. 7, a single room costs 1,100 PLN and a place in a double costs 950 PLN per person.

Rent is due by the 20th of each month by bank transfer. There is one restriction: in 2026-27, dorm places are available only to people with active UW student or doctoral status.

For food, transport and daily costs, Poland's residence rules give a useful minimum. To get a residence permit, a student with no dependants must show 1,010 PLN (Rs.25,381) a month, and must also cover return travel and university fees. Total First-Year Cost: University of Warsaw Fees Worked Out in INR

These three examples combine official tuition, UW dorm rent for 12 months, and the government living-cost minimum of 1,010 PLN a month. Flights and health insurance are excluded.

If you are a CBSE Class 12 student starting the Business and Management bachelor's, your first year looks like this:

• Tuition: Rs.4,28,000 (€4,000)
• Double-room dorm place: Rs.1,56,811 (6,240 PLN)
• Living minimum: Rs.3,04,576 (12,120 PLN)
• One-off costs (application fee, deposit, visa, permit, student ID): about Rs.32,861

That comes to about Rs.9,22,248 for the first year. After that, expect around Rs.8.9 lakh a year at the same exchange rate. For wider context, see study in Poland for Indian students.

If you are a BCom graduate who wins a Banach NAWA scholarship for the International Relations master's, your picture changes completely. The scholarship includes a PLN 2,500 monthly stipend, a tuition fee exemption at public universities and a PLN 2,500 travel allowance.

• Without the scholarship, your tuition would be Rs.4,60,100 (€4,300).
• With it, tuition is zero.
• A single dorm room (600 PLN) plus the living minimum (1,010 PLN) totals 1,610 PLN, or Rs.40,459 a month.
• The stipend is Rs.62,825 a month, which covers that and leaves room to spare.

If you are choosing the long-cycle Psychology degree, plan for a longer commitment:

• Tuition: Rs.6,93,588 (27,600 PLN) a year.
• If you choose a 1,100 PLN single room: Rs.3,31,716 a year.
• Living minimum: Rs.3,04,576 a year.

That puts your first year at about Rs.13.3 lakh plus one-off costs. Over a five-year program, tuition alone reaches roughly Rs.34.7 lakh.

How to Pay University of Warsaw Fees from India

Payment rules are set by each faculty. UW's psychology faculty is a useful example. For 2026-27, it allows payment in one instalment by 15 October, two instalments on 15 October and 28 February, or ten monthly instalments due on the 28th. 

Before paying, check what the visa and residence permit officials will ask for. The Polish residence permit requires proof of funds for living costs, return travel and tuition. Many students pay at least the first instalment before their visa appointment so they can show a receipt.

Counselor insight: Ask your bank to remit in the billing currency (EUR or PLN). A conversion through USD adds extra charges, and UW expects the full amount to arrive.

Scholarships and Waivers That Cut University of Warsaw Fees

The strongest option for Indian students is the Banach NAWA program, run by the Polish government's academic exchange agency. India is on the program's list of eligible countries. It funds full-time second-cycle (master's) study in Polish or English at universities supervised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The 2026 call set these conditions: applicants had to plan to start in 2026-27, hold a bachelor's degree obtained no earlier than 2024 or graduate by 15 July 2026, not already hold a master's degree, and show at least B2 English for English-taught study. Expect the 2027 call to follow a similar pattern, but check NAWA's site for the new dates. For bachelor's students, the realistic ways to cut University of Warsaw fees are low-fee and free programs, such as African Studies at €1,000 and Migration Studies at no cost.

What to Do If Your University of Warsaw Fees Plan Goes Wrong

Fees rise for 2027-28. Rebuild your budget from the new list as soon as it is published, and ask your bank whether the loan sanction can be revised.

The rupee weakens. Add a 5% buffer to every EUR and PLN line, and remit tuition in one or two transfers rather than many small ones.

Your loan disbursement is late. Email your faculty office before the instalment deadline, and choose a multi-instalment plan if your faculty allows it.

Your visa is refused after you paid. Ask your faculty about refunds straight away.

Your program does not open. UW refunds application fees when a program is not opened because too few candidates applied.
