When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

Dr. Patel runs a free vegan clinic for underprivileged families who can't afford regular healthcare. She also organizes health awareness camps in rural areas, educating people about hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. Her work helps countless individuals lead healthier lives. Many people in the community trust her and feel comfortable seeking help because she is kind, approachable, and never turns anyone away. I admire Dr. Patel because she uses her skills selflessly. A person who I believe contributes to our society is an urban planner. Their roles are not appreciated much, but they do play a significant role in citizens understanding their surroundings and the cities that they've grown up in. I know an urban planner, her name is Anvita and she was my junior in college. I met her recently in a store unexpectedly and I was speaking with her regarding the work that she was doing. She actually works for an organization called Maud. They are a multidisciplinary urban practice based in Bangalore. They do very interesting spatial studies of urban pockets such as parks, sidewalks, streets and they even design interventions that are focused on improving the quality of urban life. They've managed to convert a disused Nala into a very vibrant urban space and they've cleaned up the area as well. I think she, in addition, the organization also holds workshops where they invite schools to bring along the children and interact with the organization to understand what or how the city functions. It can also serve as a future learning to help them know how they can be better citizens and how they can leave behind a better city for their future generation. I think this role plays a very important position in helping us understand the importance of the history.

It would be quite difficult to choose one profession or an individual who contributes to society. There are many people out there who are helping a society to build a better place to live in for our youngsters. For me, if I have to pick one, it is teachers or professors who actually are contributing a lot to the society. For me, this one person is very important and his name is Dr. GK Sood. He was my chemistry teacher. He didn't only shape my chemistry tutorials or my chemistry classes, but he shaped my entire future, my outlook, how I see this world. He has given me a lot of insights on how the world works and how to be actually a grateful and a helpful person for other people. He has not only trained me and educated me, but has helped many students. I know a lot of students who were under him and are now at great places. They are working at different MNCs, some of them are great pharmacologists, some are working at greater companies and many of them are actually, just like him, teachers who are contributing to the young minds. I feel like this profession of teaching contributes a lot to the society and an individual's life as well.

As I'm getting chance to talk about a person who contributes to the society I would like to talk about my father. My father is a teacher. In a way he contributes to society by teaching students, making them ready for the future and making a foundation of the future. But he's a Kirtankar. What is a Kirtankar to explain it? I would say it is a religious way to educate people for their daily life. Like my father talks about drinking problems and whatnot. But with religious manner and with references of the religious texts in Hinduism. I think he contributes to the society in a way that no one else could because he's building a foundation and he's laying path for the future. He's making people better. He's doing the work government should do and he's doing it fabulously. Because I have seen people coming to him and telling that that person's drinking problem was solved. He's no longer in death and his family is happier with him now. So basically my father is a hero.

The person I know who contributes to society is a member of my own family. He is in fact my grandfather. So, my grandfather used to be an IAS officer and now he is retired. Even in his spare time, he wishes to contribute to the society. So, what he does is, he picks up, he handpicks orphanages and he goes there every week and he provisions goods and supplies for the children there. Also, he partners with another NGO and he feeds people who suffer from epilepsy during the weekends. I think this mentality of him should be adopted by everyone. So, he contributes to the society by taking active participation in tasks like food donation, health, dress and other donations. He also spends some of his other spare time in promoting tasks like this. He brings in other volunteers and fundings for NGOs. He

A person who I think contributes to society is a woman who I met while I was going on my daily commute to and from school. I noticed that she comes to the same place every day to feed the neighborhood street dogs. The work that she does is tireless and very inspiring to others to see. She's at the same place at the same time and she never misses a beat with feeding the dogs. Once, when she was out sick, she even had her son take over for her. She inspires me to do good and to be better to everyone around me.

My uncle Sam is a social worker. He contributes to the society by working for children of prostitutes. He has been into this field for a decade now. Though it is a challenging task, but he makes sure that the children of prostitutes are enrolled into the colleges and schools, they also follow up that there are no dropouts. One more challenging task in doing the job is to face the social stigma and the judgmental attitude of the people. They also work to educate people and change their mentality and perception about these children. They have also made a fund in which we can contribute so that we can fund their education. It's a very good initiative. On holidays and Sundays, they also impart some kind of skill development and vocational training to these students so that they may learn some life skills. There is also a regular health check-up of these students. In this way, my uncle, who is a philanthropist, contributes to the society and to the underprivileged children, which are in a way not acceptable in societal norms.
