University of Hertfordshire Scholarships For Indian Students: Eligibility & Tips

1. Chancellor’s International Scholarship

When an Indian or international applicant applies for admission at the University of Hertfordshire, they are automatically assessed for this University of Hertfordshire scholarship scheme. It is an exclusive scholarship program for international students who will commence their studies in September 2022.

The value of the scholarship is in the range of ÂŁ500 to ÂŁ4000. There are specific terms and conditions along with eligibility criteria for students as follows,

  • Scholarships are not available for UG or PG school of health and social work courses, which include BSc Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging, BSc Radiotherapy and Oncology, BSc Nursing (all routes), BSc Midwifery, BSc Paramedic Science, BSc Physiotherapy, BSc Social Work, MSc Adult Nursing (all routes), etc.
  • Not available for non-standard courses in Law like LLB, a postgraduate diploma in bar practice, LLM bar practice, and LLM legal practice.
  • Not available for Overseas Pharmacists Assessment Programme, pre-sessional English, research, and online courses
  • Scholarship eligibility and selection are at the sole discretion of the university.
  • Students awarded Chancellor’s Scholarship can’t apply for other financial aids like early-bird discount, 20% Hert’s graduate discount, Malaysian Partner Discount, or UG Tri-Annual Scholarship.
  • Applicants can also get a ÂŁ500 total payment discount along with the Chancellor’s International Scholarship if they make a complete fee payment before October 2022

2. UG Tri-Annual Scholarship

The Undergraduate Tri-annual scholarship is designed to offer new students partial funding in the form of tuition fee deductions. The tuition fee discounts are ÂŁ1,000 or ÂŁ1,300 for the first year, and the same is provided each year for the next three-year or four-year program, till it is complete. So, the value of the scholarship can go up to ÂŁ5,200.

The scholarship program is available for all the undergraduate courses apart from the School of Health, Social Work, and non-standard courses. School of Health and Social Work courses that are not eligible for UG Tri-annual Scholarship programs are,

  • BSc Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging
  • BSc Radiotherapy and Oncology
  • BSc Nursing (all routes)
  • BSc Midwifery
  • BSc Paramedic Science
  • BSc Physiotherapy
  • BSc Social Work

Law courses that are not eligible for this scholarship are,

  • LLB (Hons) Law (Accelerated route)

Eligibility criteria

  • The scholarship will be awarded to meritorious students according to the admission requirements of the university
  • Only available for students who study undergraduate courses at Hertfordshire University
  • Applicants can’t qualify for any other scholarship

3. Chevening Scholarship

The Chevening scholarship program is funded by the UK government’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office along with partner organisations. The primary objective of the scholarship is to support international students to study in the UK without worrying about economic constraints. This scholarship is only for students pursuing a master’s degree.

Chevening scholarship rewards include,

  • University tuition fees
  • Specific stipend per month
  • To and from travelling expenses for the UK
  • Arrival allowance
  • Homeward departure allowance
  • Visa application expenses
  • Travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK

Eligibility criteria

  • Students should be citizens of Chevening-eligible countries or territories like India, Brazil, Pakistan, Australia, China, Canada, South Korea, and Indonesia.
  • Students must return to their home country for a minimum of two years after the scholarship award has ended.
  • Undergraduate degree components need to be equivalent to upper second-class 2:1 UK degree.
  • Minimum of two years or 2,800 hours of work experience.
  • Unconditional offer from a recognized university in the UK.

Chevening Scholarship is not available for,

  • Students with dual British citizenship or full-fledged permanent residence British citizenship.
  • Students who hold refugee status in a non-Chevening eligible country.
  • Students who are government employees or relatives of a current or former employee.
  • Applicants who are former employees or relatives of current or former employees of partner organisations.
  • Have studied earlier in the UK through a government-funded scholarship.

4. Goa Education Trust scholarships

It is a scholarship designed by the Goa Education Trust with the Dempo Group, the Fomento Group and the British Council. The scholarship is offered to selected Indian students pursuing master’s programmes in recognized UK universities. It enables students to pursue higher education in UK universities with different topics like Journalism, Education, Ancient History, and Law.

Indian students who receive the Goa Education Trust Scholarship will have coverage of the full tuition fee or a portion of it, depending on different eligibility criteria.

Eligibility criteria

  • At the time of application applicant’s age needs to be under 30 years
  • Indian citizenship with a valid passport
  • Graduation degree from a recognized Indian University
  • Outstanding academic excellence with a keen interest in extracurricular activities for the postgraduate course from recognized UK universities.
  • Proof of enrollment of a letter of acknowledgement for unconditional admission

To begin the application process, students need to visit the official website of the British Council and download the application form the website. They must complete the downloaded form in word format and insert a copy of the recent passport-sized photograph into the document.

Additionally, they must add scanned copies of other documents like,

  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Copy of passport identification page
  • Copy of unconditional admission letter
  • Academic or professional reference letter

All the above documents and application form can be sent through physical mail or email to the British Council before the application deadline.

5. Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation loan scholarships

Narotam Sekhsaria Scholarship is a non-government financial aid program that provides 100% reward to meritorious Indian students. Indian students looking to pursue higher education in countries like the UK, Australia, the US, and the EU countries can opt for this scholarship program.

It is important to note that this is a loan reward scholarship without interest for students. So, they need to repay the amount.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Indian citizenship
  • Age should be below 30 years
  • Admission approved for postgraduate courses from top universities of the UK, Australia, the USA and other countries of Europe like Sweden or Ireland.
  • Qualification in exams like GRE, GMAT, GATE, CAT, etc.

The application process involves visiting the official scholarship portal, registering with credentials, and paying an application fee of INR 500. Further need to upload documents like,

  • Copies of the academic transcripts and the mark sheets from earlier years of study
  • Admission letter copy provided by the university
  • Copies of different qualifying exams like GRE, GATE, GMAT, CAT, etc.
  • Reference letters.
  • Any document which shows scholarships awarded by other organisations or university fee waiver
  • ITR or Income proof of parents or guardians
