Graduate students registered full-time in the master's or doctoral program in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering will be awarded scholarships worth at least $1,000 each year.
Academic quality will be the criterion for selection (minimum cumulative average of 80 percent or equivalent in their current program or over the last two full-time academic years).
Students concentrating in the field of telecommunications research will be given priority. Dr. Shen's family, former student Dr. Xiaodong Lin, and alumni and friends of the Broadband Communications Research Lab (BBCR) have contributed to this fund to convey their thanks to their graduate supervisor Dr. Xuemin (Sherman) Shen.
