About the Scholarship
The University of Arizona Foundation's Board of Directors has created a permanent endowment in honour of Peter "Pete" Likinsions, the University of Arizona's 18th President, in appreciation of his remarkable vision, leadership, and unshakable dedication to diversity and quality.
The nominee must be enrolled in a graduate programme at the University of Arizona and be in their first or second year of study at the time of application.
They must also have surmounted significant obstacles to gain admission and be making good academic progress in their Master's or doctoral programme (UA).
The candidate will be judged based on their capacity to passionately express oneself as well as how they overcame challenging conditions.

Scholarship amount details
10,000 plus full base graduate tuition (excludes mandatory fees and student health insurance)
Eligibility
Current first or second year doctorate or Master's students, local or abroad - Accelerated Master's Program (AMP), UA Online, JD, and MD accepted students are not eligible to apply.
The applicant must have a solid academic record.
Applicant must be recommended by the academic unit (one applicant per academic unit) and may not apply directly.
The recipient may hold a graduate assistantship at the same time.
Application Process
Applicants must be suggested by their University of Arizona academic unit (one per UA graduate programme only). Applicants are not permitted to apply directly.
The nominating programme must complete the application and attach the necessary documentation:
Cover letter for nomination Coverage from the head of a UA academic unit or the director of graduate studies (one per degree granting program).
Written remarks from nominees:
Two to three (2-3) page essay explaining how they overcame adversity to achieve their aim of earning a master's or doctorate degree at the UA.
A brief description (no more than one page) of why they want to pursue the higher degree.
One (1) letter of recommendation from a University of Arizona faculty adviser (may be same or different from the nominating faculty)
