Eligibility

  • You must be an Indian citizen.
  • You must be a regular resident of India.
  • You must be under 30 years old on September 1st of the year you apply for the award.
  • If applying for a second undergraduate or postgraduate programme, you must be a graduate of an Indian institution (applicants who are likely to graduate in the year of the award are also eligible), or you must be from an Indian school if applying for an undergraduate course.
  • A full-time course at the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford must have been applied for and accepted. Before the scholarship money are given, candidates must show proof of admission and proof of having taken up residence at Cambridge or Oxford.
  • Must intend to pursue one of the following courses of study:
  • The pursuit of a PhD degree entails a significant amount of research.
  • Post-graduate courses lasting one year (e.g. MPhil, LLM, Diploma, CASM or Part III Maths, MBA, PGCE etc.)
  • Master's programmes, both taught and research-based, are available in a variety of lengths (including M. Sc., engineering, medicine)
  • As an Affiliated Student/Senior Status Bachelors degree programme, you can get a second bachelor's degree.

Application Process

Candidates will be judged on three broad dimensions: 

  • Presentation skills, clarity of ideas and presentation, demeanor, and confidence are examples of soft skills.
  • Hard skills will be assessed based on the following criteria
  • Financial resources - Candidates may be asked to provide details of their financial resources, together with supporting documentation, if requested. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to give information about their financial and other resources. While financial need is not the most important factor, it will be considered when a scholarship is awarded.
  • Candidates who have been accepted to Oxford and Cambridge for any course, including undergraduate programmes, are eligible to apply. Individual scholarships may be restricted to specific universities, colleges, or courses, as indicated explicitly. Candidates pursuing graduate and research-based programmes, including post-doctoral research, will be given priority when applications are reviewed.
