About the Scholarship

  • Merit-based scholarships are automatically considered for freshmen and transfer students who complete an admissions application to Seattle University. 
  • These scholarships are renewable for up to four years and are awarded based on information provided on the admissions application rather than family resources. Adjustments to scholarships provided at the time of admission are not permitted. It is further promised that any institutional contribution you receive will stay consistent for the four years you are enrolled at SU.
  • All university requirements for ordinary admission to the autumn, winter, or spring quarter must be met by scholarship holders.

Eligibility

In high school, successful candidates must finish the following minimum programme (each unit equals one academic year of study):

  • 4 units of English
  • 3 units of mathematics (college prep)
  • 3 units of social studies
  • 2 units of laboratory science
  • 2 units of foreign language
  • 2 units of additional academic units from the disciplines listed above
  • Seattle University has the particular feature of direct admission to specific majors for freshmen applicants. As a result, unique supplementary requirements for admission to specific majors exist.

Application Process

  • Completed the Seattle University Member Supplement to the Common Application.
  • Transcripts from high school, if applicable.
  • Reports from the ACT or SAT (can be listed on your high school transcript or self-reported via the Common App). Please keep in mind that providing test scores is completely optional, and if you do so, the SAT Essay and ACT Writing components are not necessary.
  • One endorsement from a teacher
  • One counselor's suggestion
  • Report on the School
  • Students enrolled in the Washington State Running Start programme must also present official college transcripts.

  • A $60 application fee is non-refundable.

 

For the following students, Seattle University will waive the application fee:

  • Students that have a Seattle University graduate sibling, parent, or grandmother
  • Students who are now enrolled in or have graduated from a Jesuit high school
  • Students who are now enrolled in or have recently graduated from a Catholic high school
  • Students that are eligible for a fee remission from the NACAC
  • Students who are eligible for a cost waiver for the SAT or ACT
  • Students that engage in the Rainier Scholars programme and attend Seattle University's summer College Planning Day
  • Students who apply for a hardship fee waiver through the Common Application will be considered.
