Scholarship amount details

  • Scholarship amounts are subject to change from year to year. 
  • On the application form, the amount of each scholarship will be disclosed.

Eligibility

  • Must have a valid immigration status and have completed one full academic year at ISU in a degree-seeking programme (fall and spring semester). 
  • Some scholarships require applicants to be in F-1 or J-1 status.
  • Students who demonstrate financial necessity will be given priority.
  • Financial necessity is defined by ISSO as an unanticipated or unavoidable change in a student's financial situation that affects their ability to succeed in school (ex. serious illness, family emergencies, political upheaval, currency devaluation, etc.)
  • All additional conditions specified under each scholarship must be met by applicants.
  • A letter from the candidate describing their financial need and how they plan to spend the scholarship funds is required for ALL scholarships (500 word maximum). Some scholarships require a separate letter to address specific scholarship requirements (500 word maximum).
  • Optional Practical Training (OPT), Post-Completion Academic Training (AT), and the Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP) participants are not eligible.
  • 2.5 (undergraduate) and 3.0 (graduate) minimum GPA (Graduate)

Application Process

  • Students will receive an e-mail from ISSO each semester when they are eligible to apply for ISSO scholarships (Fall: mid-September and Spring: mid-February). Students may submit their scholarship applications in Cystart during the application submission period.
  • Students must write a letter explaining their financial difficulties. Unless further documentation are necessary, only one letter is required for the scholarship application.
  • Preference given to students who have demonstrated financial need and/or academic excellence.
