Scholarship amount details

  • This means you will pay what a resident student from New Mexico pays. This is a value of over $15,000 per year! 
  • All applicants are automatically considered for these generous scholarships – no additional application paperwork is needed!

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the International Amigo Scholarship:

  • Applicants must be applying to the University of New Mexico for a Master's or Ph.D. degree.
  • A minimum of 3.0 in previous university courses is required.
  • The applicant's graduate programme nomination
  • Students enrolled in a full-time graduate degree programme in person are eligible.
  • A student must have a non-immigrant student visa to enter the United States (Preferably visa holders- F1, J1)
  • A student should be involved in University of New Mexico research, project assistantships, or teaching.
  • There has been no previous attendance at UNM at the present application degree level.

Application Process

  • As soon as they accept a position in a UNM graduate programme, all graduate students will be considered for the International Amigo scholarship, and the nomination will be done by the corresponding department.
  • The International Amigo Scholarship does not require a separate application; 
  • Applicants are chosen by the university's academic departments. It will be given out in a manner that is representative of the department.
  • Once the nomination priority deadline has passed, a department can only receive a total of 10 Amigo offers.
