About the Scholarship

  • Students interested in jobs in the poultry industry can apply for scholarships from the Delmarva Chicken Association.
  • Residents of the Delmarva Peninsula who are undergraduate students at any accredited, degree-granting institution, with an academic major in a subject relevant to Delmarva's chicken community, and who are pursuing a career path leading to employment in any sector of Delmarva's chicken community, are eligible to apply for undergraduate scholarships of $2,000 each. 
  • The programme is also open to graduating high school seniors from the Delmarva Peninsula who have been accepted at any accredited university and are following a career path that would land them a job in any sector of the chicken industry.

Scholarship amount details

  • In 2022, we are offering undergraduate scholarships of $2,000 and graduate scholarships of $3,000. Complete applications for these scholarship.

Eligibility

  • The candidate must be a current student at an approved university in the United States, or have been admitted to an approved institution in the United States in the case of graduating high school seniors. 
  • The application must be accompanied by a complete transcript, as well as proof of college acceptance in the case of high school seniors.
  • A letter of recommendation from an academic advisor or faculty member is required. 
  • The letter can be mailed with the application, or it can be emailed to the DCA office (dca@dcachicken.com) in time for the application deadline. 
  • Letters must be written on school letterhead and include the referring faculty member's signature. 
  • The applicant's or his/her family's DCA membership is not required. That is not necessary and has no bearing on the selecting process. Scholarship payments are made to the recipient's school's financial assistance office.

The following 100-point rubric will be used to evaluate applications by a committee of DCA representatives: 

  • Scholastic Record (20 points)
  • Answers to Questions (40 points)
  • School/Community Activities & Awards (20 points)
  • Financial Need (5 points)
  • Faculty Reference (15 points)
