About the Scholarship

  • The A.S. Mowat Prize was created in 1984 to honour exceptional success by a Dalhousie University student enrolled in their first year of a master's degree in any area.
  • The prize was established thanks to gifts from a large number of donors as well as contributions from staff members and former students and employees of Professor Alexander S. Mowat. Between 1939 to 1969, Professor Mowat held the position of department chair while holding the O.E. Smith Professor of Education at Dalhousie.

Scholarship amount details

  • Students who wish to pursue higher education in Canada at Dalhousie University can apply for the scholarship. 
  • Each year, applications for the A.S. Mowat Prize Scholarship are invited in September. 
  • Students are then selected by the officials of the Faculty of Graduate Studies Committee. 
  • The A.S. Mowat Prize Scholarship application form has to be completed by the applicants only.

Eligibility

The A.S. Mowat Prize Scholarship is designed for academically outstanding students at Dalhousie University. Therefore, only the students with a master’s degree at Dalhousie University are eligible for the scholarship.

Apart from this, students have to fulfill the eligibility criteria given below to apply for A.S. Mowat Prize Scholarship 2020:

  • Admission to the first year PG Program at Dalhousie University.
  • Excellent academic grades/ first-class average
  • Students must be full-time students at Dalhousie University and registered in the current term, to apply for or receive the Prize.

Application Process

A.S. Mowat Prize Scholarship 2020 applications are accepted through an offline process. Applicants must complete the offline forms available at the Dalhousie University website-Financial Aid Application,  and submit them at the given address, along with all the documents.

Attachments that should be submitted along with the A.S. Mowat Prize application form are as follows:

  1. A maximum one-page statement of the achievements in a graduate program (Optional)
  2. A signed support letter from a supervisor or Graduate Coordinator
  3. A copy of the applicant’s transcripts
