The SUNY Geneseo was formed in 1948 as a liberal arts college. It is a part of the State University of New York, the most extensive education system in the U.S. With an affiliation of the Space-grant, the college has received its accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It was initially formed as Geneseo Normal School before becoming a part of SUNY.
At present, SUNY Geneseo is serving more than 4,900 students worldwide. It offers about 50 undergraduate degree programs and nearly 26 minors in graduate programs. Some of the popular areas include Applied mathematics and science, Fine Arts, Business administration, Women and Gender studies, etc. Located in Geneseo, New York, the college ensures that students can avail themselves of the facilities of heating plant, garage and parking lot, cleaning staffs, electrical and plumbing services, and several others.
The university's success is evident from SUNY Geneseo ranking, which is currently at the third position for "Top Public Schools" in the North by the U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges list. The acceptance rate of 61% makes the university moderately selective of the new applicants and enrollments.
The student-faculty ratio followed in the classes is about 18:1, making an effort towards smaller class sizes. The currency student retention rate has increased to 85%, thereby showing a general satisfaction among the students. The fees structure set here is affordable for most, currently ranging from $15,000-$19,000.
The university aims at the development of placement for the students following their graduation. The two types of placement schemes followed here include Out-of-Area Placements and international placements. Students applying in these have the opportunity to get hired within months of their graduation.

SUNY Geneseo requires you to have a 3.61 GPA and be above average in your high school class. At the very least, you'll need a mix of A's and B's, with more A's than B's. You can make up for a low GPA by taking more difficult classes, such as AP or IB.
This demonstrates that you can handle more challenging academics than the ordinary high school student.

If you're a junior or senior, changing your GPA in time for college applications is difficult. You'll need a better SAT or ACT score to compensate if your GPA is at or below the school average of 3.61. This will enable you to compete effectively against applicants with better GPAs.

All exchange students are highly encouraged to live in university-run residence halls for a full-immersion, American college experience. First-year and second-year exchange students are obliged to live on campus in university-operated residential halls at SUNY Geneseo, according to the SUNY Geneseo Residency Requirement. The SUNY Geneseo International Student and Scholar Services Office, in collaboration with Residence Life, arranges on-campus housing.
