Founded in 1891 as the Washington State Normal School, Central Washington University gained university status in 1937. The public university is in Ellensburg, Washington and has been accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. With an acceptance rate of 85%, the institution is among the top 25 public schools. CSU operates eight campuses at multiple locations in Washington, USA, apart from the 380-acre main campus in Ellensburg.
Around 135 undergraduate, 34 postgraduate, online and Summer programs are offered by CWU through its four colleges, namely the College of Business, College of Sciences, College of Arts and Humanity and College of Education and Professional studies. Chemistry, Education, Physics, Criminal Justice, Health Sciences, Psychology, Social Sciences, Computer Science, Law, Business and Mathematics are some of the top disciplines.
On-campus accommodation in 19 residential halls and four apartments with fully-furnished single, double and triple occupancy rooms provides Wi-Fi, laundry, lounges, and study areas. The campus has a bookstore, library, Recreation Centre, Veterans Center, dining options and a radio station. More than 125 student clubs and organisations, around 23 sports clubs and 13 varsity teams.
Central Washington University prepares students for placements with mock interviews, career fairs and workshops and has a graduation rate of 64%. Around 93% of graduates secure employment within two years of graduation with an average annual salary of 44,900 USD.
