- One of the newest public universities in the United Kingdom is the University of Cumbria. Carlisle served as the university's administrative centre when it was founded there in 2007. The other major campuses are in Ambleside and Lancaster. There are also classrooms and open workspaces in the "Energus'' facility in Blackwood Road, Lillyhall, Workington. The university is affiliated with the Cathedral Group and Million+.

Carrock Hall:

Denton Holme
Denton Holme has 249 rooms spread among 25 townhomes, as well as resident parking and bike storage. The village is a 20-minute walk from Fusehill Street and a 40-minute walk from Brampton Road, with riverbank views.
