The International Study Centre, located on our Queen's Campus, provides a welcoming setting in which you will be introduced to the teaching style you would encounter if you continue on to your degree. The programmes are designed to help you improve your academic knowledge, study skills, and English language abilities. You can progress to your degree at Durham University City Campus after completing your pathway programme at the International Study Centre and earning the requisite grades.

English Preparation, International Foundation Year, and Pre-Masters route programmes are available.

Admission Process

1. Timelines
You must apply before 18:00 (GMT) on January 26, 2022 to have the highest chance of receiving an offer. If you're applying to Oxbridge, Medicine, Dentistry, or Veterinary Science, the deadline is October 15th. You should be aware that your school or institution may have its own deadline for applying so that they have enough time to write your reference, so keep that in mind.

2. Create an account with UCAS. You'll need a buzzword if you're applying through school or college, so be sure you know what it is. You won't need a keyword if you're not applying through a school or institution. You'll be given a username when you register, but you'll have to establish your own password.

3. Get your application started.
You can normally begin your application for the following year's university admission in September. You can complete your application in stages using the online system; simply save as you go and come back to it later.

Your personal information, qualifications, course selections, a personal statement, and a reference are all included in the application.

On their website, UCAS has some excellent guides to assist you in completing your application.

You have the option of selecting up to five courses. For Durham, use the D86 institution code.

4. Universities and Colleges
On your UCAS application, you can also indicate your college selection. Use the proper campus code from the list below if you want to do this. Use the campus code O if you don't have a preference for a certain college.
5. What happens next
When you submit your application to UCAS, they will notify you that it has been received and that it will be forwarded to all of your university selections.
Don't be concerned if you don't hear from your top selections right away; selection processes differ between colleges and courses.
You'll be able to see when the universities to which you applied are ready to make their decisions on UCAS.
