The Graduate Management Aptitude Test, or GMAT, is the most popular test to analyse a candidate’s analytical writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading abilities. This test is typically mandatory for students aspiring to study MBAs and business-related courses abroad.
The best business schools accept GMAT results, demonstrating its importance for top-tier business schools. The exam can be given year-round. However, the date you get depends on your choice of testing centre.
GMAT Eligibility
GMAT has no eligibility criteria, except candidates are expected to be above 18 years of age. A candidate under 18 must get a consent letter from their legal guardian. Since GMAT is usually asked for MBA or business-related postgraduate courses, it is best to have an undergraduate degree. Though there aren’t any other eligibility criteria as of now, it is best to check for any university-specific requirements.

The official GMAT registration website is MBA.com. You are free to select the day and time that work best for you. Planning ahead and registering a month or two before the desired date is recommended. GMAT can be scheduled 6 months in advance. The results take between 7-20 days to be available, and it is advised not to take the GMAT test too close to your university application deadline. Registration process:

GMAT Exam Fee
The registration fee for the GMAT exam in India costs about $275. Of course, if you cancel your test, there is an additional cancellation fee. The ideal time period to cancel GMAT is at least 14 days before the exam; doing so will get you a refund of $50. If you cancel 15-60 days in advance, you will receive a refund of $75. If you cancel more than 60 days in advance, you will receive a refund of $100.

Retaking GMAT
If you're unhappy with your GMAT results, you may always retake it. However, you will have to wait 16 days before reapplying. You can take the GMAT as many as 5 times in a year and 8 times in a lifetime. GMAT scores can be used for 5 years post which they will become invalid. GMAT takes place almost all days of the year but depends highly on the test centre. If you intend to take the GMAT, we highly advise booking your slot well in advance. You can book your GMAT test six months before the preferred date. You can also select your preferred time slot during the registration process.

Can I reschedule my GMAT exam?
Yes. You can reschedule your GMAT exam date, but with an additional fee. However, you cannot reschedule 24 hours before the exam.
Can I reattempt GMAT?
Yes. If you are unhappy with your score, you may reattempt the exam. However, you are to wait at least 16 days from the day of your exam to apply again.
