A minimum undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 on the equivalent of the last 60 semester hours (about two years of work) is required, or a master's degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. Applicants from overseas institutions must have an excellent academic record, with a GPA of at least 3.00 for a bachelor's or master's degree. Your institution's grading scale will be used by the Graduate School. Don't convert your grades to a scale of 4.00.
The GRE is not required by the Graduate School. It may or may not be required by your academic programme. Please see your program's website for further information. Some programmes have decided to eliminate or offer flexibility with their GRE requirement due to difficulties around COVID-19.
An English proficiency test score is required for any applicant whose native language is not English or whose undergraduate education was not completed in English. Our mailing address is: Office of Admissions, UW-Madison Graduate School, 232 Bascom Hall, 500 Lincoln Drive, Madison, WI 53706. If your score is older than two years from the start of your admission period, it will not be accepted. Applicants are not exempt from this criterion because of their country of citizenship. The language of teaching at the college or university level, as well as how recently the language instruction was taken, determine whether or not this condition is met

I've met some of the top scientists studying at UW-Madison, and I also worked with a couple of professors from other departments including a cancer researcher. Both of these people were very nice, approachable and helpful and their students were always very friendly as well.

I've been here for 4 years. I'm very happy, but I wish the vibe of the college was more open. The professors are knowledgeable and helpful, the classes are interesting, the activities are fun...and the facilities are great. I have a lot of things to say about UW Madison!
Hriday
I love attending classes at UW-Madison because it is a very diverse and friendly community. We have very knowledgeable professors, who are more than willing to help find the best solution for a problem. I also like the approachable environment of the school, with professors that are more than willing to talk with students even if they don't know exactly what they are doing.
