  • The University of Virginia is a public research university established in 1819. Its main campus in Charlottesville, Virginia, spreads over 1,682 acres. The university also has a college at Wise in Southwest Virginia and ranks 26th nationally. UVA comprises 12 schools and research centers offering 121 majors, 69 postgraduate and 55 Doctoral programs. 
  • Liberal Arts, Humanities, Business, Economics, Health Sciences, International Relations and Psychology are some popular subjects to major in. The College of Arts and Sciences caters to music, theatre, art, dance and creative writing, while The School of Architecture excels in Urban Planning and Environmental Design. 
  • The law school ranks among the top 10 law schools in the country. The acceptance rate of nearly 26% makes admissions highly selective. Undergraduates apply through the Common Application, whereas postgraduates access particular program pages with an application fee of 70 USD and 85 USD, respectively. 
  • Academic transcripts, program-specific documents and scores of English Language Proficiency tests, SAT, ACT etc., are also to be submitted. The tuition fees for domestic students is around 17,891 USD, whereas, for international students, it ranges from 50,000 - 62,000 USD per year. 
  • UVA doesn't award scholarships but need-based loans worth 7,000 USD per year for international students are available in addition to the work-study facilities. On-campus accommodation in three residential colleges, namely Brown Residential College, International Residential College and Hereford Residential College, are offered. 
  • Single, double, and triple occupancy rooms are available to choose from, and all first-year students must live one year on campus. More than 800 clubs, secret societies, 17 sports grounds and fields and numerous recreational activities like hiking expeditions on the Appalachian Trail are on campus.
  •  With an impressive graduation rate of 95%, graduates from the University of Virginia get placements at big companies having an annual average package of 64,000 USD.
