Founded in 1830, the University of Richmond is located on the border between Henrico County and the city of Richmond, in the state capital of Virginia. It is a private educational institution spread over an area of 350 acres. It is a leading liberal arts university ranked 22nd in the list of National Liberal Arts Colleges and it follows a semester-based academic calendar. The university has a total of 3200 undergraduate enrollments and students from about 70 countries study here. The college offers undergraduate majors and degree programs, postgraduate as well as doctorate programs. The college consists of 5 schools- School of Arts and Sciences, Jepson School of Leadership Studies, Robins School of Business, Richmond School of Law, and School of Professional and Continuing Studies. Having a student-faculty ratio of 8:1 the popular majors at the University of Richmond include Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Social Sciences; Biological and Biomedical Sciences; Multi/Interdisciplinary Studies; and Psychology. The University of Richmond has various lodging options within the residence halls, the University Forest Apartments, Gateway Village Apartments, and several living and learning programs. Some halls have the traditional floor plans, while others are suite-style. First-year residence halls typically have a traditional floor plan of double rooms and hall bathrooms, but triple and single rooms are also available. All first-year residence halls are designated as co-ed with students housed by gender within each hall. The tuition and accommodation fees for the academic year 2020-21 were 70,290 USD. The college provides both need and merit-based scholarships to the students. Need-based aid is determined by the student's family's demonstrated ability to pay for college, as calculated by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, known as the FAFSA.

Application Requirements: International students make up about 10% of the student body at Richmond. Some of the application materials/documents required of all overseas applicants are listed below (UG & PG)

Application

  • The Common Application or the Coalition Application are the two methods for submitting an application. By the credential deadline for the associated application plan, all supporting application materials must be on file.

Transcript from High School

  • An authentic high school transcript with grades 9 through 11 on it.
  • Transcript materials must be sent by the Common Application or Coalition Application, a third-party electronic service (e.g., Naviance, Parchment, or Scoir), email, or mail by a school official.
  • * At the time of enrollment, a final high school transcript is required.

Report on Secondary School

  • This form is filled out by a school authority. It includes a high school profile as well as an assessment of the applicant's academic position in relation to their graduating class.
  • Any secondary school report form, such as a Common Application or Coalition Application form, or one issued by the high school, is accepted.

A school official must submit this document using the Common Application or Coalition Application, a third-party electronic service (e.g., Naviance, Parchment, or Scoir), email, or mail.

Letter of Recommendation

  • One letter of recommendation from a school authority, ideally from a school counsellor, is required.
  • Up to two more suggestions will be considered in conjunction with the application; but, due to the large volume of recommendations submitted each year, these will not be tracked or acknowledged individually.

Scores on Standardized Tests

The University of Richmond will not require SAT/ACT scores as part of your application for the Fall 2022 class. Please note on the application if you do not want standardised test results to be included in the review of your application.

  • The SAT Essay section, ACT Writing section, and SAT Subject Tests are not required.
