  • Troy University is a public university located in the state of Alabama in the United States. It was founded in 1887 as the Troy Normal State School to help train and educate upcoming teachers in the region. Over the years, it has become the flagship university of the Troy University System. 
  • The university consists of seven schools and colleges, which offer numerous degrees in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies. The best programs at Troy University include Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Masters in Criminal Justice. 
  • The main campus of the university is located in Troy, Alabama. It is also home to the Confucius Institute, which promotes the Chinese culture and languages, as well as the Center for International Programs to promote cultural exchange on a global level. 
  • The campus in Montgomery is home to the Rosa Parks Library and Rosa Parks Museum, a tribute to the Civil Rights activist of the 20th century. Other campuses of the university are located in Phenix City and Dothan, conducting various programs of the university. Notable alumni to have graduated from Troy University include astronauts William G. Gregory and Kevin A. Ford, as well as American footballer DeMarcus Ware.

The Center for International Programs requires the following documents:

  1. Application for International Admission
  2. Official secondary school transcripts or mark sheets, as well as a graduation notice.
  3. One of the following English proficiency* requirements: Score on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). For the paper test, a score of 500 is required; for the computer-based test, a score of 173 is required; and for the Internet-based test, a score of 61 is required.
  • A minimum IELTS score of 5.5 is required.
  • Minimum SAT score of 1050, with a minimum of 480 in Reading and Writing.
  • A minimum ACT English score of 20 is required.
  • A minimum iTEP score of 3.5 is required.
  • A minimum score of 46 on the Pearson Test of English is required.
  • A minimum score of 48 on Duolingo is required.

4. A valid passport is required.

5. Proof of financial assistance for two semesters of study is required. Students can get conditional admission even if they don't have the required test scores. In order to matriculate into academic programmes, these students must take the ESL placement test and pass the criteria.

On-Campus Accommodation

On-campus housing is available.

  • On-campus accommodation is available to students at the university.
  • Students who are under the age of 19 must live on campus.
  • There are 13 residence halls at the university.
