Texas State University is a public research university founded in 1899 in San Marcos, Texas. The university is the fifth largest in Texas, formerly being recognized as Southwest Texas State University.
The university consists of 10 colleges offering over 200 programs in various fields of education. This includes 99 undergraduate, 93 graduate and 14 doctoral programs. Faculty belonging to the university have been the recipients of numerous Fulbright Scholarships for their research activities.
The top programs at Texas State University include BSc/B.A. in Psychology, B.Sc in Electrical Engineering, M.A. in Mass Communication and Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
The main campus is located in San Marcos, with the 492 acre campus located between Austin and San Antonio. The Texas State University Round Rock campus is located 30 minutes to the north of Austin. It was opened in 1996 to upskill the local population with specialized skills that companies needed.
