  • Formed in 1826, the State University of New York, Fredonia is the westernmost member of the SUNY. It was opened initially as the Fredonia Academy under Austin Smith, and later it re-emerged as a New York State Normal School in 1867. The university is fully accredited by the State University of New York Board of Regents.
