English Proficiency Requirements

English proficiency is not required for conditional admission. International students whose native language is not English are required to demonstrate proficiency before taking college classes.

Students who do not meet an English proficiency requirement will take an English placement test during orientation. Placement into Intensive English classes or college will be determined by the student’s score.

On- Campus Accommodation

South Puget Sound Community College students have the option of living with a local family, renting an apartment, or living with relatives or friends.

  • Only minutes from campus, students can enjoy safe, high-quality apartments. Apartments provide an opportunity to live with other SPSCC students within walking distance from campus. They are also close to bus lines, restaurants, and shopping.
  • Each apartment is unfurnished, and has a shared living area, kitchen, dining room, bedrooms, and bathrooms
  • They also have a stove/oven, refrigerator/freezer, washer/dryer, and dishwasher, each apartment complex has a workout gym, and community center
  • Rental rates for apartments are affordable and competitive and include all utilities including WIFI, billing your rent and utilities to your student account once per quarter leaves more time to focus on academics
  • Students must be 18 to live in an apartment, and apartments are limited. We have 2-bedroom units, and 3-bedroom units each with two bathrooms

There are two options: a student can rent a private bedroom, or share a room (for a lower rental rate). Singe/twin beds are only allowed in the bedrooms.

I would like to share my experience at South Puget Sound Community College. I am a transfer student from USF, and this college has been the best decision I have made in my college years so far. The campus is full of students who are friendly and inclusive nature, the faculty is helpful and easy to talk to, and the food is really good too!



I was debating on whether or not to attend a community college or a university, but I got in contact with the admissions office at South Puget Sound Community College and they offered me an admission package. This school has a great campus, low cost of living, helpful faculty and staff. The school is great for students looking for placements



I am a recent graduate of South Puget Sound Community College. I had been looking for community colleges with amazing facilities, good tuition and community support. SSSPCC was the perfect fit for my education and career plan. Very diverse student body, great infrastructure, comfortable accommodation, affordable tuition fees - everything I could ask for!
