A freshman is a student who is enrolling for the first time at SDSU. The student is usually fresh out of high school or secondary school and has no prior university experience. Admission to freshmen is determined in part by the applicant's high school academic performance and the amount of available spots. The International Admissions Office is aware that secondary/high school graduation ages differ from country to country. To be eligible for admission, students must be at least 17 years old at the time of the program's start date.

  • Applicants must have an academic record that is at least equivalent to a "B-" average (2.60 out of 4.00) or be in the top 60% of their class with appropriate academic preparation for the selected major.
  • While not compulsory, the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is greatly advised and recommended for freshman applications. Students who graduated from a high school in the United States are required to submit a SAT score.
  • Originals or authentic certified accurate copies of academic transcripts are required. If your transcripts aren't in English, you'll need to provide certified genuine translations. All work completed in upper secondary school must be documented on your transcripts. Transcripts are frequently submitted by applicants before the end of their senior year of high school. Please state your projected graduation date if you must submit transcripts prior to completion.

South Dakota State is ranked 5th on the Best Colleges list. Not only that, my professors look to us as being very innovative and creative in our research. Due to the fact that we are very good in our academics, we are able to get placement offers without sacrificing GPAs.

Rudrani

I took a year long program that included South Dakota State University's Extracurricular Activities Program. There was a lot of exposure to the world of academia, and I learned principles of writing and research skills. This program is an excellent way to get a big bang for your buck.
