  • Founded in 1960, RBC is named after Virginian statesman Richard Bland. It was established as a branch of the College of William and Mary by the Virginia General Assembly. This institute was once under the umbrella of "the Colleges of William and Mary.
  • Although it is self-functioning in nature, Richard Bland College is governed by William and Mary's Board of Visitors.   • Candidates for admission must have achieved an equivalency certificate based on GED examinations or have graduated from an approved high school with a standard or advanced diploma. High school courses, grades, and extracurricular activities are used to evaluate applicants. Four (4) units of English, three (3) units of mathematics (recommended courses: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, or advanced math courses), two (2) units of history or government, and two (2) units of science should generally be included in a high school curriculum. Two (2) foreign language units are recommended but not needed.
