Approximately 95% of 2018-19 grads found work or were accepted into graduate study. The average starting salary for Mines graduates is 69,375 USD.

After graduating from the institute, about 94 percent of bachelor's students, 97 percent of master's students, and 100 percent of PhD students have had excellent outcomes. DiggerNet is the University's online recruitment system, which allows students to create resumes, practise interviews, register for events, schedule interviews, and research career prospects, among other things.

Career Day is held twice a year, in September and February, to assist students in connecting with employers.

The institute has eight residence halls, both traditional and suite-style, as well as seven thematic learning communities.
In the fall of 2020, the university expects to establish a new residence hall.
Both graduate and undergraduate students have access to housing. Students can also get help seeking off-campus accommodation through the institute.
