  • The University of California, Merced (UC Merced) is a public land-grant research university in Merced, California. It is the University of California's tenth and newest campus. UC Merced was formed in 2005 to "address the region's historically low levels of educational achievement." 
  • UC Merced has 8,321 undergraduates and 772 graduates, with 63.8 per cent of students getting Pell Grants, more than 99 per cent of UC Merced students hailing from California, and the university's lowest-income students from underrepresented ethnic groups.
  • UC Merced is one of Merced County's largest employers, contributing $1.7 billion to the San Joaquin Valley economy. Under the university's Triple Zero Commitment, every building on campus is ecologically certified, making it one of the most sustainable campuses in the country. 
  • The U.S. News & World Report ranks UC Merced's undergraduate programmes 97th overall among U.S. national research universities, with "R2: Doctoral Universities - High Research Activity."
