  • The University at Albany is a public institute incorporated in 1844. This open research university decided to reorganize its academic structure in 1905. Later on, it became New York City’s first institute of higher education to provide a bachelor's degree. The University at Albany—SUNY ranked 172 in National Universities as per the 2022 edition of U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. 
  • In the QS Global World Ranking 2020, UAlbany ranked #751-800 globally. The institute campus is divided into two regions - the Downtown Campus and the Uptown Campus.
  •  The former one was established in 1909, and it comprises the College of Information Technology, Rockefeller College of Policy and Public Affairs, School of Social Welfare and School of Criminal Justice. The latter one is the main campus and is situated at 1400 Washington Avenue in Albany. The setting of this institute is suburban, and its campus area measures about 610 acres. University at Albany follows a semester-based academic calendar. It provides over 50 undergraduate majors and around 120 master's programs. This includes those in the schools of business and education. 
  • Several graduate programs at UAlbany are highly ranked, and this includes social work, criminal justice, and specialties provided in the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy.
