The university has continued to rank among the top 100 institutions in the UK for this programme since 2019, despite a fall in the accounting and finance rankings for the current year. International applicants need to meet the programme and course-specific criteria

 

English language proficiency requirements:

 

  • Bachelors degrees: IELTS 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each band (or equivalent)
  • Masters degrees: IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in each other band (or equivalent)
  • Postgraduate research degrees: IELTS 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in each band (or equivalent)

One of the many advantages of studying at the University of Northampton is that many academic programmes provide opportunities for practical work-based learning to supplement your studies. Work-based Learning (WBL) allows you to gain work experience while also earning an award by completing module assessments that reflect on your experience.

Every year, 3,500 students participate in WBL as part of their coursework, with high module pass rates (93 per cent).

Placements, client briefs, internships, and paid employment are all examples of WBL. Professional recognition will be given to some of the work placement programmes. All combined honours students are eligible for optional placement years, which are always funded.

 

The Changemaker Hub, which is available to all confirmed offer holders, can help you. So, even before you begin your studies at the University of Northampton, you can begin to consider the skills and knowledge you want to focus on to improve your employment prospects. The university does encourage you to discover your own WBL opportunities for some of the courses, but this allows you to put your previous job experience to good use while also improving your employability. You'll be supported by the Changemaker Hub and your course teams, who will make sure you have the correct WBL chances to fit your course's criteria as well as your particular interests.

At the University of Northampton, we understand that choosing the perfect place to live while you study may have a significant impact on your university experience. Whether you prefer to live in our halls of residence or privately-owned housing, we have a variety of options to fit your needs. 

In the three university-owned Halls of Residence sites: on the Waterside campus, in the town centre (St. John's Halls), and Scholars Green Student Village, the university has over 2,250 beds.

Standard single and twin rooms, en-suite rooms, townhouse rooms, and studio apartments are all available at inexpensive, comfortable, and secure rates to suit all budgets and demands. All rooms are completely furnished and include network and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as access to hall facilities and lodging services, 24-hour security, and a dedicated support team.

The on-campus Student Village has been designed with your studies and social life in mind; living on campus at Waterside is a great opportunity to live away from home for the first time, with all the support and facilities you may need right on your doorstep, including our 24-hour-access library, Student Information Desk (SID), and Students Union clubs and societies. Waterside campus is close to Northampton town centre, so you'll simply have to go a short distance to catch a train or a bus home.

Apartments with large, small, and accessible en-suite rooms, townhouse rooms, and studio flats, all with hall facilities and services, are available in Waterside Student Village. Some halls are namely Charles Bradlaugh Hall of Residence, Francis Crick Hall of Residence, Margaret Bondfield Hall of Residence, John Clare Hall.

St. John's Halls (NN1 1DH) is located in the centre of Northampton, among supermarkets, restaurants, and shopping.

For lectures and on-campus events, the town centre accommodation is only a five-minute walk through neighbouring Becket's Park, and you will still be assisted by our 24-hour Security and Residential Life professionals.

Flats with single en-suite rooms, as well as single and twin studio flats, are available at St. John's Halls, and all feature hall facilities and services.

St. John's House is right next door and offers standard single and twin rooms on a termly basis for students on short courses or postgraduate students who prefer a quieter setting.

Scholars Green Student Village

 

Scholars Green Student Village (NN2 7AG) is located in the surrounding area of Kingsthorpe and is ideal for individuals looking for a calmer atmosphere or a lower budget.

The student community is located about 4.5 miles from Waterside and features a free Uno bus service that runs frequently to school, as well as a convenience store, post office, and hall facilities and services.

Single en-suites with common kitchens and twin en-suite 'bedsits' are available at Scholars Green Halls (Simon Senlis, Spencer Perceval, and William Carey), Simon Senlis also has single studio flats.
