- One can trace the formation of the University of Sunderland back to the formation of the Sunderland Technical College in 1901. It got its university status following the Further and Higher Education Act, 1992. Officially recognized by the Privy Council, the university has affiliations including the Association of Commonwealth Universities, EQUIS, Universities UK and Coalition of Modern Universities.
- With the help of its four campuses, the University of Sunderland offers educational services to more than 16,979 students. It is known for its diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The ONCAMPUS Centre of the university has been a new and unique addition. The students who do not have the necessary eligibility to apply for the university can undertake a preparation course in the ONCAMPUS Centre. The purpose is to offer preparation courses right on the university's campus, so the students feel like they are attending the university classes.
- After completing this course, the students will be eligible for the Year 1 of a relevant undergraduate degree program. Some of the standard courses in the center include Business, Economics and Finance management, Engineering, Humanities and Law, Social science and Life science. Moreover, the University of Sunderland ranking shows its 1st position in the “University of the Year for Social Inclusion”, according to The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021.
- Currently, the tuition fees structure set for the international students might be unaffordable, ranging between $20,000 and $25,000. However, the university offers scholarship programs for deserving students every year. What are the requirements for participation?
The institution has programme and course requirements, thus each course or major will have its own set of academic requirements at all levels. However, international students are expected to have the following minimum qualifications:
- Undergraduate candidates must have a high school diploma or certificate with a grade 12 average of 75-90 percent or better.
- A first-class undergraduate degree from a recognised institution or its local equivalent is required for postgraduate candidates.
- Candidates for the MBA programme must have a three-year bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 50-55 percent.
Language Proficiency in English
If an international candidate is applying to the institution from a country where English is not the first language, they must pass any of the relevant examinations in order to be considered for admission.

- Above 180 Cambridge CPE
- Above 170 on the Cambridge CAE
