Founded in 1845, the Queen's University Belfast is a public research institute in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Over 24,000 students from 153 countries are enrolled in 200+ undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs taught by 15 schools (3 faculties), namely the School of Law, Queen's Management School and School of Psychology. Some of the courses offered are Anthropology, Economics and Accounting, Irish, Social Work etc. The Queen's University Belfast campus is located in the heart of Belfast, and the McClay Library houses 1.2 million volumes, manuscripts, journals, periodicals, 2,000 reader seats and computer facilities. INTO at Queen's is a collaboration that serves as a foundation education program for university degree programs. These include academic and English courses like IN sessional English, Aerospace Engineering, Management, Summer Schools etc. The study abroad program, comprising the Erasmus program, Summer/Winter Schools, Study Abroad etc., allows overseas students to study at Queen's for a semester or year. What are the requirements for participation?

There are programme, course, and country-specific requirements at the university. For example, Indian applicants must meet the following criteria:


Admissions to the undergraduate programme

  • A grade 12 average of 70-85% or better in the best of five academic subjects, as determined by CISCE, CBSE, any state board, or equivalent, is necessary.
  • In addition, a minimum score of 75% in each of the required subjects is required.
  • The results of JEE Mains and JEE Advanced are also taken into account. In such instances, the percentage of students in class must not fall below 60%.
  • Students studying medicine and dentistry must have a minimum of 90 percent overall, with 90 percent in Chemistry and Biology.

Admissions to Postgraduate Programs

Indian PG applicants must have a bachelor's degree with an average of Upper Second Class Honours or Lower Second Class Honours in the United Kingdom.

  • 4.0 on a 6.0 point scale, meaning an A, B, or Good.
  • 7.5/10.0 or 6.5/10 CGPA (good)
  • Percentage A minimum final average of 60% or a second division pass is required.

Requirements for English Language Proficiency

QUB accepts 70% in Core English in Grade 12 from the following boards for most bachelor's programmes, barring Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Medicine.

  • State boards in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat issue the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC).
  • The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations issues the Indian School Certificate (ISC) (CISCE).
  • The Central Board of Secondary Education conducts the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) (CBSE).

International UG and PG students can also submit any of the following exam scores:

TOEFL iBT is a computerised version of the TOEFL exam.

Admission Process

What is the procedure for applying to the UG programme?

Students must visit the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service to apply for an undergraduate study at Queen's University Belfast (UCAS). International applicants should complete the application by registering on the UCAS application portal with their personal information and adding the required information. Applicants can go online and check and track all of their applications.

What is the procedure for submitting a PG application?

International applicants can use Queen's University Belfast's online application platform to apply for a postgraduate course. To fill up your QUB application, simply follow the instructions outlined below.

  • All overseas students are given a spot at the university's Elms Student Village.
  • Mount Charles, 76 Malone Road, College Gardens, Willow Walk, Elms Village, Guthrie House, and Grant House are the university's seven residential units.

  • The average monthly rent is between 600 and 700 pounds.
