The AA is interested in hearing from students who can show initiative in engaging in the extremely public forms of presentation, discussion, and debate that pervade the AA School, the architectural community, and the rest of the world. We're searching for self-motivated students with the desire and determination to carve out their own path through a school that promotes a variety of teaching methods and objectives.
The AA is the UK's oldest independent architectural school and is a private Higher Education Institution (HEI). Because the AA is not a member of UCAS, all applications must be submitted directly to the school. For all prospective students, the method is the same.

In 1847, the Architectural Association was established. The AA is administered by its members and is dedicated to achieving public benefit through architectural learning, teaching, discussion, and promotion. The AA School is the heart of the AA, with 850 students and employees. Many of the world's finest architects, academics, critics, and educators have graduated from the school, making it a global leader in architectural education. For more over 160 years, the Architectural Association School of Architecture has retained its independence.

The AA does not have its own housing, but it does provide students with a housing service beginning in September. During this time, an AA student is present to answer questions about costs and location, and the Accommodation Office usually has a number of options.

The Hooke Park location in Dorset is used for sustainability and woodworking research, and a small number of students has been permitted to live and study there since 2010.
