If you want to apply for a program at Conestoga College in Canada, you must satisfy two criteria. The first is the prerequisites for admission, and the second is proof of English competence; if you are an overseas candidate, you must have cleared the TOEFL,  Duolingo English Test (DET), or IELTS exam.

 

While aspiring students must prove their English proficiency, there is one exception. The Conestoga English for Academic Studies program can be opted for by students without English skills looking to obtain direct entry into post-secondary programs.

  • Applicants for the Hearing Instrument Specialist and Massage Therapy programs must have an overall band of 6.5, with no band lower than 6.0, except for the speaking band, which must be 8.0.

  • CAEL: 70, no sub-test band score less than 60

Admission Process

 

The admission cycle dates differ depending on the program. You can usually choose between Fall, Winter, or Spring semesters. The application must be made online; full-time international applications are processed through the university portal. The application process is pretty straightforward. However, it's vital to keep in mind that you must apply a year in advance of the program's start date. International applicants need to submit applications through Ocas.ca international applicant portal. Once you’ve logged into the site, follow the below steps:

  1. Click on the college of your preference
  2. Choose the program that you’re interested in
  3. Then check the requirements
  4. Pay an application fee of $100.00
  5. Submit the application following the payment
  6. Check regularly if the application has progressed
  7. Once the acceptance letter is received, print it out. The details for the fee and all other information will be mentioned in the Letter of Acceptance. Finally, send a confirmation, accepting the offer. 

 

Incomplete applications will be retained for the duration of the program and closed when the application for the program is closed. Seats are allotted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Applicants must apply for a VISA immediately after receiving their acceptance letter. International students must carry a study permit along with the Canadian Student Visa or electronic travel authorization (eta.)

Off-campus residences are not sponsored or monitored by the institution itself. You need not trouble yourself with cooking as well, since a meal plan is usually included. It further eases the load on students by offering laundry services and internet access. A month's homestay expenses will cost you around 875 CAD, with an extra 235 CAD as a placement fee.

 

Temporary housing is a last resort option for students who have not yet found or finalized an accommodation. Generally, temporary housing demands a booking, but as a thumb rule, one must always check and double-check the authenticity of the place before going ahead.
