Great Plains College is one of the leading Saskatchewan regional colleges, offering post-secondary certificate, diploma and degree programmes. It has three decentralized campuses, among which is the Swift Current Campus.
The campus is 2 hours away from the USA-Canada border and is located near many parks, golf courses, art galleries and restaurants.
Great Plains College offers courses in various fields of business, arts, science, law and technology, like abnormal psychology, business communications, commercial law, digital marketing, English language training etc. It is home to 322 full-time and 1143 part-time students.
The aim of the college is to build stronger leaders, careers, partnerships and communities, and thus it became the region’s first college to offer health and dental plans for the students.
Great Plains College recognizes the financial need of international students and boasts its great scholarship programmes, which make accommodation and tuition more affordable. International students enrolled in the business diploma in management or youth care worker diploma programmes are offered The International Student Award.
Five awards of $2,000 are granted to international students entering the second year of their diploma programme. The college allocates $1 million for scholarships and bursaries.
Great Plains College is renowned for its high graduation and employment rate. 70% of post-secondary students became full-time employees in 60-90 days of graduating. It also houses a volleyball and basketball team, Sundog, which has won three provisional championships. Given the location and the facilities offered, the student satisfaction rate is 96%.
