Eligibility Criteria
- be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
- Commit to returning to your home country for at least two years after your scholarship ends.
- Have at least two years of work experience (2,800 hours).
- Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master’s programme.
- Apply to three different and eligible UK university courses. You must have received an unconditional offer from at least one of these course choices by the references and education documents deadline listed on the application timeline.

How to apply?
The application process is as follows –
- Apply to any three universities covered by the Chevening Scholarship
- Complete your online application form on the official website
- Answer all the questions asked
- Upload the required documents. File formats accepted include PDF, JPG, or PNG under 5MB.
- You must provide two names as referees while applying for Chevening scholarships. Your referees must be able to comment on how well-suited you are to receive the scholarship.
- If your application is shortlisted, you’ll be called to attend an in-person interview with the British embassy representative nearest to you.
- All Chevening applicants must submit their education documents, references, and one unconditional UK university offer.

A. You are asked to supply the contact details of two referees when you submit your application. If your application progresses, you must ensure you have uploaded two reference letters to the online application system before your interview and by the date listed on the application timeline.
Q. Does the Chevening Scholarship provide accommodation?
A. The Chevening Scholarship does not cover accommodation costs. But it provides a monthly allowance to cover your rent and other accommodation costs. Chevening Scholarships also cover your travel expenses and visa application. Therefore, you can save a lot of major expenses and contribute towards your accommodation.
Q. Can I apply for a Chevening Scholarship if I have previously taken up an offer?
A. You may apply for a Chevening Scholarship if you have previously taken up an offer. However, you must ensure a gap between the two applications of at least 5 years. If you apply 5 years before completing your first scholarship, your application will be disqualified.
Q. Can a partnership be arranged for short courses, distance learning or PhDs?
A. Generally, the Chevening Scholarship programme awards one-year taught Master’s level degree courses. Very few short courses are offered, but only on an exceptional basis. Distance learning scholarships and PhDs are not eligible for funding under a Chevening Scholarship.
Q. What documents do I need to take with me to my interview?
A. You will need to take your passport or another form of ID. In your invitation to interview, you will be told whether you have any missing references that you should also bring to your interview in addition to your passport.
