If English is not your first language, you must submit scores from one of the following English proficiency exams:
Scores to be submitted
Please read our Application Materials page for a list of TOEFL codes. IELTS scores can be emailed to gradadmission@pacific.edu or sent directly to the Office of Graduate Admission via the testing service.
Minimum Admissions Scores
- TOEFL score: 80 (90 for Graduate Assistants)
- 6.5 on the IELTS
Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for a Graduate Assistantship may be asked by a unit's admissions committee to submit scores from the ETS-administered Test of Spoken English (TSE).
Admission does not require official copies of international transcripts. All overseas applicants must have their foreign transcripts evaluated course by course by an accredited transcript evaluation agency (see Transcript Evaluation below).
Transcripts in Progress
Please request transcripts from your university showing the work you have completed to date if you have not completed your bachelor's degree (or master's degree if appropriate) at the time of your application to University of the Pacific. These are known as IN PROGRESS transcripts, and they will be labelled with the phrase "No Degree Indicated." These documents will be considered acceptable for admissions reasons, and a decision will be made.
Finances Certification
International students must demonstrate their ability to meet the financial needs of their education, living expenses, and incidental expenditures, according to government laws. This necessitates the filing of a Certification of Finances form in an amount sufficient to cover all of the above costs for a year.
