Ontario Tech University

Ontario Tech University, a government-run higher learning and research school in Oshawa, Ontario, was founded in 2022. The university's forename was the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. The seven faculties at Ontario Tech, each focusing on a different subject area, are the Faculty of Business and Information Technology, Faculty of Health Science (FHS), Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH), Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS), Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science, Faculty of Science (FS), Faculty of Education (FE),  and Faculty of Graduate Studies.

According to the ARWU (Shanghai Ranking) - Universities Rankings for 2020, Ontario Tech University is among the top 800 universities worldwide. For three years, in 2017, 2018, and 2019, the university was ranked between 701 and 800. In the Shanghai ranking, universities are not ranked according to their standing among academics or employers; instead, they are ranked according to the calibre of academic research they produce and the number of Nobel Prizes their team has earned.

The Ontario Tech University is also included in the list of top global universities published by US News & World Report, where it has received rankings of 1022 for 2020 and 1098 for 2021. As part of their ranking methodology, US News & World Report specifically considers the number of publications cited, global research reputation, and regional research reputation (12.5% each) for the US.
