The European Forum Alpbach, situated in the picturesque Tyrolean village of Alpbach, Austria, is an annual interdisciplinary conference that brings together students, academics, politicians, and thought leaders to discuss pressing global issues.
Both EFA itself as well as the Forum Alpbach Network (FAN) award around 350 scholarships to first-time participants. The two weeks in summer are a unique experience for this selected group of people, providing thought-provoking content as well as inspiring encounters with decision-makers and other generations of passionate Europeans.

Eligibility Criteria
- Available to applicants from all countries and disciplines.
- Artists and non-graduates are invited to apply.
- Candidates are encouraged from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, members of ethnical or religious minorities, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, and refugees or displaced persons to apply for a scholarship.
In addition, please note the following application criteria:
- You have not received a scholarship from the European Forum Alpbach yet and therefore qualify as a first-time scholarship holder. If you attended the Forum virtually in 2020 or 2021, you may still apply.
- The main language of the European Forum Alpbach is English. Therefore, fluent English language skills are required (English proficiency at a minimum level of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference). You will be asked to provide supporting documents to prove your English proficiency (Q&A section).
- You are between 18 and 30 years of age (or between 18 and 35 for citizens of the Global South)
- All applicants must be available and ready to attend the event for a minimum of eleven days, including the Seminar Days and the Europe in the World Days.

- the participation fee
- accommodation for the entire duration of the event
- daily allowance of EUR 25 or INR 2300 per day

- If you are applying for a scholarship via EFA, please submit your application through online application platform.
- Carefully review the requirements to ensure your application is complete, as incomplete applications or those sent via email will not be accepted.
- Late submissions of missing documents will also not be considered.

To confirm your B2 English Level, you must provide one of the following documents:
- A language certificate (issued within the last three years) indicating a B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Accepted tests and minimum scores:
- TOEFL: 72+
- IELTS: 5.5+
- Cambridge English Scale Score: 160+
- MUET: 4+
- Duolingo: 100+
- Proof that you studied or are studying in an English-speaking country
- Proof that your degree was taught entirely in English
- If you are a native English speaker, upload a copy of your passport. You are considered a native speaker if you are from one of the following majority English-speaking countries:
